Feast your eyes on these special wine dinners

The “FoodNews” column that I compile for the Dayton Daily News Go! section every Friday is the longest, largest, most gi-normous ever this week, packed mostly with wine dinners and other special events. So even before we run the Dayton-based wine listserv’s list of tastings, here’s a sampling of the incredible events on tap for this weekend and next week, starting with one wine dinner occurring THIS Friday (Nov. 14) that didn’t make it into the listing that will appear in tomorrow’s DDN.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar at The Greene in Beavercreek is offering a dinner it calls “Green is the New Red: 90+ Wine Dinner” that pairs some of the “green” (as in environmental practices, NOT underripe fruit, you wine geeks) wines from Fleming’s wine list with dishes that highlight sustainably farmed ingredients. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14. Each of the wine selections has scored 90 points or higher by Wine Advocate (Robert Parker), Wine Spectator or Wine Enthusiast, Fleming’s folks say.The cost is $95, not including tax and gratuity. For more information or to make reservations, call (937) 320-9548. You can also find out more by clicking here and then clicking again on ‘page 3’.

But wait … there’s more. Here’s what will be in Friday’s Go section, if all goes as planned:
