UPDATE: Internal investigation to be released today
UPDATE: Report was released around 12:15 today. Read the full story here.
I’ll have portions of the investigation up here later today.
Original Post (8:15 a.m., May 19) Just got off the phone with West Chester Twp. Police Chief Erik Niehaus, who said the internal investigation into the April 20 high-speed chase accident that left a Lockland police officer in critical condition will be released this morning.
So stay tuned. When I get it, you’ll see at least parts of it here.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol led the investigation into the actual accident that involved West Chester officer Kevin Burger and Lockland police officer Brandon Gehring.
Gehring was laying down stop sticks on southbound Interstate 75 during the early morning hours of April 20 in an attempt to slow a vehicle driven by an armed robbery suspect West Chester officers were chasing.
Read that story here.
Gehring’s condition has improved even beyond what’s mentioned in the earlier post. He was released early last week from University Hospital, and is now in his second week of rehabilitation at the Drake Center
