Local 16-year-old charged with spiking teacher’s drink
A little crime news for a change in this space…
West Chester Twp. police have charged a 16-year-old Lakota West High School student with “contaminating a drink for human consumption,” according to reports.
Police say the girl, a Liberty Twp. resident, dumped an unidentified amount of hand sanitizer into her teacher’s hot tea when the teacher left to make copies.
The incident allegedly occurred at approximately 11 a.m., April 16.
When the teacher, Nancy Pilder, 57, of West Chester Twp., went to take a drink of her tea, she told police she noticed a certain smell, and saw something floating in the otherwise dark liquid.
Police spoke with the student, and she was subsequently charged, and then released to her mother, according to reports.
The charge is a big one, a first-degree felony, and carries significant jail time if she’s convicted.
Calls to the Butler County Juvenile Detention Center were not immediately returned regarding questions about court dates.

The issue here is that because the school has lost controll (and is unwilling to discipline thier students) this girl is facing a felony for poor judgement. Things are worse today don’t get me wrong, but things that were treated as pranks 10 years ago are now dealt with like capital crimes. It’s all about common sense. .
