Communicator system coming to the township
West Chester Twp. trustees approved last night a motion intended to make emergency notification among township residents faster and more effective.
The Butler County Emergency Management Agency has established a communicator system that can send pre-recorded messages to phone numbers at specific addresses, ranging from one neighborhood to an entire swath of the county. The township has joined this program, and will be able to use it within its borders.
The system is expected to be able to send not only emergency messages, such as alerts to streets in the path of a tornado, but also to provide fast communication to SWAT or HAZMAT teams.
Keep your eye on the Pulse-Journal for more on this new tool the township has for emergency communication.
