Mystery blast in township last night?

I was startled awake last night by the sound of an explosion.

Now I know that the Fourth of July and the seemingly requisite fireworks are only a few days away, but the blast I heard coming from the direction of the Lakota Hills neighborhood was far louder than the fire crackers, bottle rockets or even goose-scaring blank blasts that I often hear this time of year.

So what was it? Was someone playing with oversized fireworks? Was it a garage experiment gone wrong?

I’ll try to mention it again this week, but now’s as good a time as any to provide the following link to a release from the Ohio Department of Commerce on fireworks laws and safety.
