Gypsy moth spraying planned for township
Last summer a number of township residents voiced concerns over the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s 2007 gypsy moth spraying program. The ODA said the chemicals used to combat the invasive bugs (Dimilin will be used this year) are harmless to people, but concerns were raised that sensitive individuals might be affected nonetheless.
West Chester Twp. is taking steps to better inform residents about the spraying, including publishing a map that shows the area to be treated (the ODA lists this area as the “Glendale” sector - go figure).Did last year’s spraying concern you? Do you feel the township is doing enough to inform residents about the planes that may soon be dusting their community? The 2008 spraying program is scheduled to be addressed at the trustee meeting Tuesday, but I’m curious what people think about last year, and what you’re thinking about this year.
