New owners reopen doughnut shop today

TROTWOOD — One of the three doughnut shops that we told you Wednesday had closed on Dec. 31 is scheduled to reopen today under new ownership and with a new name.

Jackie’s Donut Shop, 6265 W. Third St., is scheduled to open this morning, Jan. 13, in the space formerly occupied by the Donut Hut, according to co-owner Ray Jeffers of Jefferson Twp. Jeffers’ daughter Jacqueline Jeffers will manage the doughnut shop, her father said. Hours will be 5:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday.

Jeffers said he and other neighbors were disappointed after the Donut Hut closed after business Dec. 31 due to its owner’s health problems. Jeffers and his wife decided to lease the building and set up their daughter in the doughnut business, he said.
