New Kettering restaurant to open Nov. 1
KETTERING — A new restaurant will open on or about Nov. 1 at 1122 E. Dorothy Lane, in the building that formerly housed Barbie’s Bistro and La Pergola.
Millie’s Philly Cheesesteaks is named for owner Adam Arnold’s late grandmother, Mildred Arnold, who worked at the Imperial House South, Peerless Mill Inn and Antonio’s, three now-defunct Dayton-area restaurants, the owner said.
“I wanted honor the family,” said Arnold, who himself has worked at several Dayton-area restaurants, including The Hamburger Wagon, Ron’s PIzza, the Kettering Village Inn, Chili’s and Fazoli’s.
“We finally just decided we didn’t want to work for other people,” Arnold said of himself and his business partner, manager Marie Curtis.
Millie’s Philly Cheesesteaks will specialize in authentic-style cheesesteaks and will also feature calzones, other sub sandwiches and pizza, Arnold said. Belmont Bakery will make the buns and breads for Millie’s Philly sandwiches, Arnold said.
Arnold, who lives in Miamisburg, said the new restaurant has passed health inspections and appears on track for a Nov. 1 opening. It will be open for lunch and dinner six days a week, closed Sunday.
