Former Centerville restaurant to reopen as Archer’s Tavern

CENTERVILLE — Two Centerville men will open a new tavern at the site of a former Uno’s (later City Flame Grille) at 9496 Dayton-Lebanon Pike.

The establishment’s name will be Archer’s Tavern in homage to Centerville’s first tavern, which was run by John Archer and his son, John Archer Jr. in the late 1800s, according to tavern co-owner Mike Fullenkamp.

“We want to make sure our business is connected to the community, which is one of our values,” Fullenkamp said. “And it was just a cool name.”

Archer’s is expected to open in late June or early July with 40 to 50 employees, Fullenkamp said. It will seat about 190. The facility has been vacant since City Flame Grille closed in January 2008.

Fullenkamp and his business partner, Dan Apolito, are both veterans of local Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill restaurants, Fullenkamp said this morning, May 11. Fullenkamp was executive general manager of a Dayton-area Applebee’s, and Apolito was an area director over seven stores in the Miami Valley, Fullenkamp said.

Archer’s will be “an American-style tavern” serving burgers, pizzas, salads and wraps, Fullenkamp said.

The tavern’s phone number will be (937) 401-1015.
