Harrigan’s to expand into second location
Harrigan’s Tavern will open a second location in the former Fox & Hound in the Washington Park Plaza sometime after the first of the year, Harrigan’s owners Dave Haig and Mike Haley III said.
The new tavern and restaurant to be called Harrigan’s South will be located at 671 Lyons Road, just off Miamisburg-Centerville Road near Old Time Pottery Barn and Arrow Wine & Spirits. Harrigan’s has begun renovations on the space, which has been vacant since Fox & Hound closed in September 2008.
Haig said he and Haley have “absolutely no intention” of closing the existing Harrigan’s at 4070 Marshall Road in Kettering, which the business partners have owned since 1999. “This is just a second location,” Haig said.
The 8,790-square-feet Harrigan’s South will employ as many as 50 people, Haig said.
Haig and Haley said they will likely expand the menu at the new location to include items such as Irish stew, shepherd’s pie and steaks to the staples such as burgers, pizza and wings.
The tavern owners said they were approached by acquaintances connected to commercial real estate about moving into the vacant space, examined it, and decided to take the plunge.
Workers are installing kitchen equipment and furniture at the site now, and Haig said he expects to open sometime in January.

I’m looking forward to Harrigan’s South. Harrigan’s on Marshall has great draft specials. The only place I know to have Guinness and Harp for a Friday specials. Welcome Harrigan’s.

The Fox & Hound actually had good food and was clean! What makes Harrigan’s think they can do it better?

Harrigans still wont be half the bar that Kings Table in Beavercreek is. Dean and the gang at Kings know how to run a bar. By the way, i hate to start up the smoking argument, but i enjoy being able to go to out with friends and not having to come reeking of smoke with my eyes burning. But check out Kings Table. You can get a great burger, tots and a few beers for about 10 bucks. Lets see Harrigans or Fox and Hound top that.

Good luck to anyone trying to open a business in this economy and this state. I don’t smoke but no smoking in a bar is like not being able to fart in a bathroom - both stink but for Pete sake it’s killed a lot a bars.

Actually the Harrigans in Kettering was originally a Burger Chef. Having grown up in the area I used to eat there all the time as a kid.

If the new one is anything like the current location, I don’t know how they will ever make it. Service is slow and horrible, food has deteriorated over the last year or two, and I’ve had to get my own drink refills. No thanks! I’ll stick with other local places.

I preferred Harrigan’s when it was on Far Hills next to St. Albert’s Church (the bar was originally called Balmer’s Tavern) and Harrigan’s Kettering used to be a Sandy’s (like a McDonald’s) that catered to the people who went to the Kettering Swimming Pool behind it.

Hater - Why would you assume I have been kicked out of anything? I frequent both of those bars every once in a while - and while I enjoy them, it will be nice to have something new in the mix. I hope you don’t drown in your own misery.

haha, nice comment! Thank you for the lol this morning! That Fox and Hound lot is primo for someone if they can make it work, Fox and Hound was not that impressive (when I had business associates in town they wanted to eat there every night so I have probably been there at least 50 times over the years), food was not great, expensive and always hard to get a table. I can look at T&A elsewhere, when I want to eat, I want to eat! Good Luck to Harrigans!

It’d be great if they had a live music room. I’d be happy to help book/manage events. The old Fox and Hound is HUGE!

They may do well if they give good service. Fox & hound at Fairfield Commons is a nice facility with attractive young waitresses. You just can’t get any beer or food there. Maybe that place will go under if mgt doesn’t wake up. BTW service at Frickers on Woodman is top notch!!

This is fantastic news! I love Harrigan’s. The Centerville Bar scene has become a little stagnant lately (mainly Bargo’s and Paur Haus), so this is a nice shot in the arm. I hope they can do something with a patio! What a great addition to the area as well as a HUGE location! All the best!

need to clean the first location. it is like they wiped down the place with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
