Love her or not, Rachael Ray headed to Dayton next week

Rachael Ray is headed to Dayton, and I had a chance to chat with her by phone early this week for the story I’ve written for today’s Dayton Daily News Go Section about her upcoming book-signing at Books & Co. at The Greene.

No one seems to be neutral on Rachael Ray, are they? No Food Network chef/talk show host/author seems to generate such heated comments both positive or negative. My phone conversation with her was quite pleasant, and the recipes in her new cookbook sure sound appealing.

What is your opinion of Rachael Ray and her television shows/cookbooks?

In our story in today’s DDN, we did have some fun translating Rachael Rayisms, to wit:

EVOO: Extra-virgin olive oil

Stoup: Dish that can’t decide whether it’s stew or soup

Moppies: Dish towel

Yum-O: Delicious

Delish: Yum-O

Sammies: Sammiches — er, sandwiches

Here’s how to go to the book-signing:

What: Rachael Ray book-signing — tickets required

When: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 (line numbers to be handed out starting at 5 p.m.)

Where: Books & Co. at 4453 Walnut St. in The Greene in Beavercreek

How: Tickets available at the store with the purchase of “Rachael Ray’s Big Orange Book” ($24.95, Clarkson Potter)

What person who has their own show and is the only one on camera spends time not saying anything? Hollow complaint, Charles. Hollow.

Rachel Ray us an alright person…she has very simple recipes that don’t send you into a tizzy trying to figure out. Though i’m a trained chef i still enjoy watching her shows and reading her cookbooks. There are a lot of jerk chefs out there who could learn how to really enjoy themselves doing what they do and not be so uptight over cooking. Good health and good luck Rachel..keep up the good tidings.

OK, so she does get on my nerves, her constant chattering, but she reaches out to the everyday cook and makes it look easy.So she is valuable and deserves her spot on the Food Network. And don’t be disrespecting Anthony Bourdain…he is KING!

I really like her…especially the 30 minute meals cooking show. She seems very positive, happy and content with her life. How do you hate that?

Rachel Ray is an inspiration for me as a dad to be a better cook. She is funny, bright, witty and of course cute and cheerful…not arrogant, snarky and snooty as is Anthony Bourdain.

I watch her show everyday. She has such a wonderful personality and it shows through her smile and the way she interacts with all people. I think of her as a friend and her cooking is a plus also.
