Sarven turning it on for Shawnee
Shawnee’s Steven Sarven is one of the hottest players in Clark County. He’s turning it on at the perfect time of the season.
Sarven, a 6-2 senior guard, is averaging 19.0 points over his last five games for the Braves (9-12). In the previous seven games, he averaged just 8.5 ppg.
“We’re definitely stepping up the intensity in practice,” Sarven said. “We’re going a lot harder.”
Sarven said the Braves went on a stretch where they practiced without the reserve team. Now that they’re back in practice, it’s helping his play in several different areas.
“Having that competition in practice really helped me step my game up,” Sarven said.
Sarven is averaging 13.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. The Braves play fourth-seeded Urbana in a D-II sectional second round game today at 6:30 p.m. The Braves lost to the Hillclimbers 35-33 on Jan. 25
