OHSAA proposal would affect few schools
From the Columbus Dispatch:
A referendum that would change the way high-school teams are assigned to divisions for postseason play in eight sports has stirred much debate but apparently would prompt little movement of teams from one division to another.
“Maybe six, seven, eight, nine” teams would move up or down a division in those sports if a referendum is approved by a majority of Ohio schools in May, Ohio High School Athletic Association commissioner Dan Ross said.
He said it would be virtually impossible for a team to move more than one division.
“Some of the tests we ran with the formula in all the sports indicated that, with all three criteria being considered, there won’t be as much movement as we anticipated,” he said. “This is a good thing, because with this plan just being a starting point, we didn’t want total chaos in Ohio.”
