Weber’s determination serves Wittenberg well
From ThisWeekSports.com:
Pataskala’s Corey Weber showcased his durability on the football field last fall as the top running back at Wittenberg University.
Despite suffering a shoulder injury in the 2008 opener and missing the remainder of the season, he started fast and finished strong while helping to lead the Tigers to a 12-1 overall record and an undefeated seven-game romp through the North Coast Athletic Conference. They tied the school’s single-season wins mark and advanced to a Division III national quarterfinal before falling 31-13 against the eventual-champion University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
“Coming into my freshman year I had a high ankle sprain, too,” said Weber, a 2007 Watkins Memorial High School graduate. “Then I got clipped on the shoulder in my first game as a sophomore scoring a 2-yard touchdown. I was bummed, definitely. I didn’t want the coaches thinking I was injury prone or anything.”
