Shawnee down after three quarters

A running commentary for Shawnee’s boys basketball game with Thurgood Marshall on Wednesday, March 10, at UD Arena:

10:30 p.m.: Marshall’s up 43-35 with 2:18 left in the game.

10:17 p.m.: Marshall’s up 36-29 heading into th efourth quarter.

Shawnee is going to have to break Marshall’s press if it wants to win this game.

10:15: Marshall is using a full-court trapping defense and leads 33-24 with 2:23 left in the third quarter.

9:53 p.m.: It’s 21-21 at halftime. P.J. Howell leads the Braves with six points. Both teams are struggling to score. The low scoring is in favor of the Braves, as Thurgood is quicker and wants to run.

9:40 p.m.: The game is tied, 16-16, after a basket from John Campbell.

Graham loses to Roger Bacon

Live, running commentary for the Graham vs. Roger Bacon district basketball game at UD Arena:

8:46 p.m.: Final score: Roger Bacon 47, Graham 34. Ethan Ward led the Falcons with 11 points.

8:45 p.m.: Roger Bacon is up 47-31 late in the fourth quarter. Graham’s streak of district titles is going to end tonight. About 30 seconds left. Roger Bacon just went on a10-0 run to pull away.

8:30 p.m.: Graham’s down 29-23 heading into the fourth quarter. The Falcons scored five points in the third quarter.

8:20 p.m.: Graham’s down 27-23 halfway through the third quarter. Adam Zook just hit a 3-pointer. Score remains low, just the way Graham wants it against an uptempo team.

8:15 p.m.: Halftime stats: Nick VanHoose 8 points and 4 rebounds; Casey Crable 6 points; Ethan Ward 4 points. Ryan Zook has 4 assists.

Graham’s band just played Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller.’ Appropriate, I think.

8:05 p.m.: It’s tied 18-18 at halftime. Graham’s biggest lead was 14-6. Roger Bacon scored the last five points of the half to tie it.

8:00 p.m.: Graham’s up 14-6 with 2:55 left in the second quarter. Nick VanHoose just hit a 3-pointer, and Roger Bacon hasn’t scored yet in the quarter.

7:55 p.m.: Graham leads 7-6 early in the second quarter. Casey Crable just made a jumper.

7:50 p.m. Graham was down 6-0 early in the first quarter, but now is down 6-5 at the end of one.

Ethan Ward got the scoring started at the 3:30 mark. Nick VanHoose has three points.

It’s been a physical, brawling, kind of a game. Both teams are playing excellent defense.

  • We’re about 20 minutes from the Graham-Roger Bacon tip. Dunbar beat Indian Hill 77-54 in the first game.

  • I’m at UD Arena and will be posting live from both the Graham and Shawnee games.

Graham plays Roger Bacon, with the tip about 45 minutes away.

Shawnee plays Thurgood Marshall after that, at 9 p.m.
