Greenon, KR girls face tough tournament foes

When you head to some of the top holiday tournaments in the country, you know you’ll be seeing some stiff competition.

For the Kenton Ridge and Greenon High School girls squads, they’ll see just how good they are today, Tuesday, Dec. 29.

The Cougars face H.W. Byers, Miss., the two-time defending Class 2A state champions. They’re led by Amanda Jones, a Jackson State recruit. They’ll play Byers in the Braggin’ Rights Classic at Columbus Harvest Prep at 11 a.m. today.

The Greenon girls will get another tough test today in the form of Dr. Phillips High School, Fla. The Panthers are unbeaten and are the top-ranked team in Central Florida. They start five freshmen. They’ll play in The Rock Holiday Classic in Windermere, Fla. at Noon today. The Knights are assured at least a fourth-place finish after beating Memphis Booker T. Washington yesterday.

On Tap for Monday, Dec. 28

After a seemingly four-day break from prep action, we get back on the hardwood on Monday, Dec. 28.

We’ve got several teams playing in holiday tournaments this week.

The Kenton Ridge girls squad faces Columbus Northland in the Braggin’ Rights Tournament at Columbus Harvest Prep at 4:45 p.m. today.

The Greenon girls team will wake up early to play Booker T. Washington from Memphis, Tenn. at 9 a.m. today in the Windermere Prep Rock Holiday Classic.

Here’s the complete schedule for today, Monday, Dec. 28:

BOYS BASKETBALL

Greeneview vs. London at Miami Trace Holiday Tournament, 7:30

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Kenton Ridge vs. Col. Northland at Harvest Prep, 4:45

Tecumseh at Fairborn, 6

Cedarville at West Liberty-Salem, 7:30

Piqua at Graham, 7:30

Greenon vs. Booker T. Washington at Windermere, Fla., 9 a.m.

BOWLING

Mechanicsburg at Greeneview, 4

Northeastern at Southeastern, 4
