Aplington-Parkersburg coach Ed Thomas a true winner

The sports world was shocked today by the murder of Ed Thomas, the longtime high school football coach at Aplington-Parkersburg in Iowa.

Thomas made headlines last season when the football field at the school was rebuilt to help restore pride in the community of Parkersburg after it was hit by a tornado in 2008 that killed six people and destroyed the high school. The team was featured on both NBC’s Sunday Night Football and Showtime’s Inside the NFL. The school is also the alma mater of four NFL players.
