Brian Stevens will be recommended to the Northwestern board of education as the high school’s new head football coach. The board meets on Thursday, April 16.

Stevens was offered the job on Monday, district superintendent Tony Orr said.

Stevens, 30, was an assistant coach at Greenon the previous five seasons. He was an assistant at Northwestern for one year, and was an assistant at Northwestern in 2003.

Northwestern went 6-4 in 2006, but dipped to 1-9 this season.

“I wouldn’t go to Northwestern if I didn’t think there was a chance to win,” Stevens said. “I’m going there to build a program and get the program winning.”

Congratulations Mr. Stevens. I hope you are well informed about past experiences with parents&assistants that wanted to play their kids.

Brian Stevens is all class. I hope the people of Northwestern district understand the treasure they have in Mr. Stevens. He is knowledgeable, enthuastic, organized, loves the sport and the students. Our loss is your gain. I loved working with him when I was AD…a wonderful guy.

You don’t need to get on here and bash Jarzab. A coach can instruct, they can’t control what those kids do when they play. NW has sucked at FB forever with lots of coaches
