Springfield softball gets its first win

The Springfield High School softball team won the first game in the program’s one-year history with a 15-9 win against Catholic Central on Wednesday, April 1.

The Wildcats (1-2) scored five runs in the fourth inning.

Jamie Easterday had nine strikeouts and pitched all seven innings. Cecelia DeBartolo had four hits, and Brittny Biles had two hits and three RBIs.

Julia Kuntz had three RBIs for Catholic Central.

Last season the team competed as two different schools: North and South. Those schools merged before the 2008-09 year.
