JAKES event Sunday at Troy Fish & Game
Troy Fish and Game, 2618 Lefevre Road in Troy, will host a National Wild Turkey Federation JAKES event on Sunday, July 12. It starts at 10 a.m., and the Ohio Division of Wildlife will provide the archery trailer, shooting simulator and air rifle range. At 1 p.m. they will host a fishing derby.
Bring your fishing gear for the derby, but guns and ammo are provided. Don’t bring your own guns and ammo.
The free event is open to youths ages 17 and under. The idea is to provide basic outdoors skills.

Youth event to be held at Troy Fish & Game Club NWTF JAKES event and Fishing Derby Sunday, July 12
TROY, OH - Area youth are invited to a conservation event at Troy Fish & Game Club on Sunday, July 12, 2009, starting at 10:00 a.m. according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The Miami County Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and Troy Fish & Game are sponsoring the events.
The NWTF sponsored JAKES event will begin at 10am. The Division of Wildlife will be providing the archery trailer, shooting simulator as well as the air rifle range. Shooting implements and ammo are provided; participants are not to bring their own guns or ammo. Certified instructors will be on hand to assist youth. At 1:00pm the Troy Fish & Club will sponsor a fishing derby. Youth will need to bring their fishing equipment. The event is free. Concession will be available. The Troy Fish & Game Club is located at 2618 Lefevre Rd., Troy, Ohio 45373.
The NWTF’s JAKES program is dedicated to informing, educating and involving North America’s youth in wildlife conservation and the wise stewardship of our natural resources. Through partnerships with local conservation groups like the Troy Fish & Game Club youth ages 17 and younger learn the basic outdoor skills necessary to become successful stewards of the resource. They also learn to be responsible outdoorsmen and women through fishing, camping, and hunting seminars taught by qualified instructors.
