Dayton rock band to appear on David Letterman show

The “classic” lineup of Dayton’s Guided by Voices will release its first album in 15 years on New Year’s Day.

Two days later, the influential indie rock band is set to appear on “Late Show with David Letterman” to promote the 21 track LP “Let’s Go Eat The Factory.” All songs were written and composed by Robert Pollard.

Considered the quintessential GBV lineup, Pollard, Tobin Sprout, Greg Demos, Mitch Mitchell and Kevin Fennell reunited last year with a series of shows.

The five hadn’t played together since 1996’s “Under the Bushes, Under the Stars.” The band got its start playing in Dayton bars before gaining fans outside of the area thanks partly to college radio.

The new album features GBV’s famed lo-fi 4-track sound. It will be available from Pollard’s Rockathonrecords.com Jan. 1. It will hit stores Jan. 16 and 17.

Let’s Go Eat the Factory is GBV’s 16th album and the first since 2004 when the last version of the band dissolved.

Guy looks like he’s rocking out on the guitar. My guess is that this is some sort of rock band. I’m guessing emoish. I think I’ll check them out on Letterman.

The ‘Ridge band is sorely lacking without one of its founding members, hoop wizard Jimmy Pollard. The good news is they still manage to carry on— The Club Is Open!

Everyone knows that Guided by Voices is a Christian rock band, playing inspirational music for the head, heart & soul. I think they are good Catholic boys because they sure do like to drink!! ;-)

Guided by Voices is a Rock and Roll band. They are the most famous band you’ve never heard. They have hundreds of records to choose from. Robert Pollard releases great records almost every month or so. See them LIVE! You won’t be dissapointed!

GBV is so cool that they will never be heroes in their hometown. That’s why Pollard still lives here. You would think the guy would go to Kroger or something but I’ve never seen him there. SMH.
