Local woman meets singer Susan Boyle. What celebrity would you die to see

There was canceled flight after canceled flight, but Lou Ann Griman eventually landed in New York for her recent meeting with internationally-known singer Susan Boyle.

The Troy woman was among 25 people selected by Susan Boyle Fans International Inc. for an audience with the formerly frumpy and now fab Britain’s Got Talent contestant.

Bad weather in New York lead to the canceled flights. Griman missed a get-acquainted dinner with Boyle, but didn’t throw in the towel.

The retiree got the last standby seat to New York later that night and arrived in at 3 a.m.

She called her three minutes with Boyle later that day a dream come true.

“She’s really funny,” Griman recalled. “She’s down to Earth. So many times you think of celebrities as being into themselves and she was just a normal person.”

Boyle signed a CD for Griman and gave her several autographs for friends.

The singer drew eyelashes on Griman’s “Susan Boyle” cardboard head.

“Quite an improvement, don’t you think?” Griman heard Boyle joke.

What do you think? Which celebrity would you “die” to meet?

Tom Hanks! I love him in almost every movie, and he seems like a really nice guy.

Glad you made it, Lou Ann. Must have been a thrill! And what’s all this fuss about a COI??? Susan Boyle’s manager can choose anybody he wants, can’t he? Nothing wrong with that! Just because the newspaper got the information wrong surely doesn’t mean that the microscopic vigilantes need to start barking, does it?

How wonderful for you to have had this opportunity to meet your heroine. And then to share your experience with your community. Susan Boyle is a phenom, an incredible talent and a lovely person, to boot. Ms. Griman, don’t let anyone shade your wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing this story.

What a lovely opportunity for Lou Ann Griman. I am so happy she had the opportunity to meet Boyle and enjoyed her time with her. It is Elaine Paige that I would want to meet in person. She is playing on Broadway in the “Follies” with Bernadette Peters. She really is the First Lady of Musical Theater in London and I’ve followed her career for years. Have always wanted to meet her in person. Am so happy she’s back on Broadway. Was surprised to see you include the Boyle/Paige video. Elaine’s “Celebrating40 Years in Musical Theater” really highlights a very talented performer.
