WDTN-TV to replace noon news with lifestyle show

WDTN-TV plans to launch what it is calling an one-of-a-kind, local lifestyle talk show to replace “2 News at Noon.”

“Living Dayton” will premiere in early January 2012, according to a press release.

WDTN anchor Marsha Bonhart and meteorologist Jamie Jarosik will present news and weather at the top of the hour-long broadcast.

The weekday show will use local experts to showcase fashion, family, health, finance and other lifestyle topics.

The station is looking for two hosts, producers and experts in all fields to be a part of Living Dayton.

To apply, email your resume, DVD reel, and headshot to Steve Bailey at sbailey@wdtn.com. Phone calls are not welcome.

What do you think?

Wow, I love channel 2 news. This is a shame, I guess I will learn to love another station at noon now.

I hope they will still do the pet adoption spotlights like they do now on Mon. & Thurs. with SICSA and the Humane Society.

I don’t think this is a good idea. Why not have the news from noon to 12:30. Then have your new programing from 12:30 to 1:00. If the new format goes into place you will definitely lose a lot of your audience to WHIO-TV.

What a bad idea. I guess I will be stuck watching WHIO at noon.

JerryO, I have to disagree with you because I will remain a viewer of WDTN even if the new format is adopted

It’s another case of dumbing down content to the mental level of the present generation. You see it everywhere. Then we wonder why we don’t have better informed voters. We’re getting what we deserve!

Sorry Jamie and Marsha you will be missed. Who has the time to sit and watch the news for an hour? I guess that I will watch another channel for the news…..

Sorry Channel 2 very bad idea, you need to become an equal to WHIO which will never happen as all of the companies who have owned you since Crosley, and AVCO have not had the money or not wanted to make your station technically as good as WHIO. go hd locally change the news room set you have good anchors clean up the picture

As Slim Pickens said in “Blazing Saddles”….and I do too…”What in the the Wide Wide World a’ Sports is a goin’ on!!!!!” It appears that WDTN is searching…>>>>>>”Lookin’ for love in all the wrong places……..” Losers have a way of keeping themselves in the loser column……..WDTN is in the column. As an investor in communications stocks…..there will be no more money coming their way.

This is good news. There is way too much news on the tube. Morning, noon, and night. Is it all necessary? Listening to all those half-wit wether morons is pure torture.

I vote for the change. “Living Dayton” could be a good change for our community. Let’s give it a chance.

We like the suggestion to present the first half hour of news, then half hour of the lifestyle show. Please, don’t use Pam Elliott at noontime!

WONDERFUL! Hire someone who is from Dayton and familiar with the areas and that has a passion for our city. This is a great idea as long as you don’t use news people we see already on daily basis.I can’t wait to watch!

I prefer watching Marsha at the noon news over any of the other stations at noon. She has a natural way of delivering details, no false expressions. However, at 12:30p I change over to Young & Restless.
