Dayton interactive innovators vying for space at South by Southwest
UPDATE Oct. 24, 2011
Here’s a big congrats to a team of local “interactive innovators” we told you about this summer.
The crew lead by Patrice Hall of Real Art Design Group has been selected to present at the South by Southwest Interactive Conference this March.
It is a pretty big deal indeed.
See details below.
A team organized by Dayton area residents needs your help in its bid to be a part of the South by Southwest Interactive Conference in Austin, Texas in March.
“It’s Alive: Interactive Machines that Captivate,” a panel anchored by Patrice Hall of Real Art Design Group, hopes to present how it “integrated facial recognition software, microcontrollers, Kinect hacks, and addictive experience with their machines.”
Online votes will contribute 30 percent to the decision of which panels will be selected for the interactive, film, and music conference.

Arundi Venkayya, the panel’s would-be moderator, said the conference would be an opportunity to showcase local innovation.
It’s Alive would include Real Art Design Group’s Santa Claw and Welcome to College’s Mobile Automated Research Vehicle (MARV). Both companies are based in Dayton.
“People don’t naturally think of Dayton as being on the cutting edge of technology, but there are some really cool things going on here,” said Venkayya, a Dayton Daily News assignment editor.
Other panelists include Justin Bayer of Welcome to College, FK Funderburke of SapientNitro in Atlanta and Nathan Martin of Deep Local in Pittsburgh.
Their presentation would also include information about the LiveStrong Chalkbot and the Unilever Share Happy Smile Machine.

That’s compelling which is why the same initiatives were so CHALLENGED in the “23 Hours Dead” (56m37s) post! YouTube had them pegged!

I love hearing about innovations in Dayton. “thumbs up” to Patrice Hall at Real Art for getting exposure for this.
