Gravity-defying I-675 crash to be analyzed on new show

Two shocking local crashes will be analyzed on a new National Geographic Channel show that highlights “real-life survival stories of horrific accidents.”

“Indestructibles” will feature a stunning 2004 Dayton crash involving Scott Tegtmeyer when it premieres 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Brennan Eden’s Aug. 23 airborne crash in Sugarcreek Twp. will be the subject of the show 10:30 p.m. July 17.

The production company behind Indestructibles worked with The City of Dayton’s motion picture attraction program Film and Screen Team (FAST). Keith Klein, the city’s film coordinator, said a third episode filmed locally is in the works.

On May 23, 2004, a PT Cruiser ran a red light and hit an SUV, sending it airborne. The SUV landed upside down on Tegtmeyer, who was crossing the street. Read article by reporter Katie Wedell here about the reenactment of the accident at Third Street and Edwin C. Moses.

Brennan Eden’s crash may be even fresher in your mind.

If you recall, the Mason man’s Pontiac Firebird went into a median on Interstate 675, hit a guardrail and went airborne into an overpass column at Wagner Road.

Cruiser cam footage captured by Sugarcreek police showed Eden’s car smashing into pieces and his body bouncing across the highway.

The horrific crash made national news and Brennan, then 19, was interviewed by NBC’s “Today Show.”

“I just remember driving regularly the speed limit. Just like anyone else,” he told the show. Click here to she video.

Here is how “Indestructibles” describes the crash:

“A spectacular flying car crash against an overpass breaks a Firebird into pieces. In August 2010, Ohio teenager Brennan Edens car goes airborne after hitting a guardrail which sends him flying across the highway. Miraculously, he completely recovers.

Eden has no memory of the accident and no idea of how he survived. This episode of The Indestructibles will answer the two key questions: Why did Edens car go airborne in the first place? And how did he survive the crash into the bridge, a crash that by all accounts should have killed him? With the support of a spirited stunt team and some mind-blowing experiments, crash investigator Tim Leggett aims to find the reasons for this unlikely survival.”

Son, NO. You obviously were not driving the speed limit. You can keep lying to yourself and the media but it’s a miracle you’re alive and, further, another miracle you didn’t kill someone else.

Of course he doesn’t remember….and what he does remember is what he’s been told AFTER the fact..by parents and attorneys. That kid was no mare driving the “regular” speed limit than SEAL TEAM SIX are just “regular” navy guys. He (and his parents) really need to just keep their mouths shut, be thankful he’s alive AND his foolishness didn’t kill anyone else….like the UNDERAGE girl that was in his car when the cops found them at Beaver-Vu. Bet HER family is glad they got to her BEFORE his “regular” drive home.

Gravity defying? No..he didn’t “defy gravity”. He temporarily released the effect of gravity due to speed and angle of attack. Hell of a launch, heck of a landing. How much is this idiot costing us? Has he claimed Social Security disability yet? Bet he has.

How can he say he didn’t exceed the speed limit when the video shows him FLYING past the cruiser? Certainly the cruiser wasn’t going way under the speed limit. Glad this guy is okay though, it really is a miracle.

People make mistakes and the media wants ratings any way possible. It’s not his fault people want to follow-up on the story. You all don’t have to be so rude and negative.

Speed limit my a*s. His family should have to pay for all the cops, EMT & fireman that worked that mess for hours. Guardrail didn’t lauch his car, dirt berm guardrail is on did. He made 10’s of thousands of people late for eveything that day with 675 shut down for 5 or 6 hours.

He was obviously speeding, but just as obviously doesn’t remember it. Why is everybody being so rude and negative towards him? Yes, he made a mistake and yes, he made a lot of people late for work, but I guess you all are perfect and would never do anything wrong or dangerous. Personally, I’m glad he has recovered and his story can be told to warn others.

national geographic does not know the whole story, and if he is paid any money for this it should go to the Police, Fire and EMS Departments that saved his life, as he had no regard for other life’s that were on I-675. keep lying to the press we saw the video of the Highway Patrol car you passed.

We’re sorry, Ashley, for being rude and negative. He didn’t make a mistake, the media shouldn’t have reported this accident due to being ratings wankers. Nothing was his fault. It was a normal day. There…feel better, you enabling idiot!

This was no accident! Traveling over 100 MPH, passing on the berm of interstate highway is NO accident. It was intentional & a blatant disregard for safety of all others on the road that morning. He had a death wish, got very lucky & didn’t die or kill anybody else.

Was he the one that had no health insurance? So we foot the bill for his foolishness. Then his mother sued MVH because a healthcare worker peeked in his record. Please! Are they gettting paid for this show too. What trash.

I’m in this documentary, just look for the bald guy with yellow glasses.. I’m not going to say much about it ( because I can’t ) except to just watch it and a lot of questions will be answered. The internet is filled with too much speculation. It was a tragic accident and it was fortunate that none of us were harmed on 675 that morning.

An idiot and his Trans Am are soon parted. It usually happens in a junkyard…this idiot decided that it would happen in traffic…with total disegard for other motorists. As Mom & Dad have made excuses for their idiot spawn..it’s not too hard to understand why their kid has total diregard for others. Why wasn’t this “learning experience” taught by the parents? Could be they know how to work the system…as Mom sued due to someone looking at his medical records….which probably include information of his other drug induced transgressions? O.K. people…watch the show…he’s a “hero”….too bad you don’t give this kind of attention to your Vietnam vets or current protectors of your freedom. It’s the glam…right??? It’s that 15 minutes of stupidity that you want more of, right? Anyway…vote for Obama (he’s in the same league as this idiot>>>destructive)in 2012…and let the insanity continue. You’re good for it.

I found the show on Demand on ATT uverse and watched it and it didn’t have the firebird guy on there, it only had the other guy from Dayton that was walking and got hit by car. Is one going to be on a later episode?

Sorry, but this kid wasn’t just “lucky”….he was stupid! He’d just been stopped by cops for an underage girl in his car behind Beaver-Vu bowling alley, and apparently was pissed or afraid of what almost happened…..drugs and alcohol were suspected. Probably had a little tizzy fit…and we know how teenagers get. Usually ends up in trouble.Glad he’s OK, but it was no “amazing accident”…except the still being alive part.

Maybe you all should re-read the article. He was not drunk or on drugs. And if you notice in the police video he doesnt put on his breaks or anything. And EVERYONE knows if you are about to hit something you break. It was determined it was either a medical issue or he fell asleep. But since he cannot remember, does not mean that he is a bad person. I hope to God you all never fall asleep at the wheel and almost kill yourselves or block traffic. Heaven forbid we could all be so perfect like you all casting judgement on him. He was ridiculed enough through the media before any real information was released. I hope none of your kids ever screw up and do something stupid… will you send them straight to hell too??? As for the underage girl, it was her beer. She was released to her father and Eden was given a sobriety test and breathalyzer, the cop said he was NOT under the influence. Please read before you cast stones in your glass houses mother f**kers!

We can’t blame them for the attention and money seeking behaviors of this family. Our society is to blame for these behaviors. It just shows the greed and selfishness of this family. We all need to realize that there is ALWAYS consequences for our behaviors and choices.

Glad to see the daily minute of hate out on the DDN comment section. And just to throw a little knowledge down, traumatic events can lead to memory loss before, during, and after such events. But facts don’t matter to most of you.

This story should be played incessantly so that other young drivers will know the dangers and repercussions not only of reckless driving but also of driving while in emotional distress, which is clearly the driving factor behind the whole incident. I truly hope the National Geographic special hits home the point that it’s a miracle NO ONE was hurt during the 7:15AM rush hour! Let this serve as a concrete reminder to all drivers how truly stupid it is to speed.

The ONLY thing that was “proven” was the tox-screen came up negative for drugs or booze. NOTHING else was…there was speculation (fueled by HIS parents and lawyer) that he “must have fallen asleep” or “had a medical condition”. THIS was NEVER proven; but is repeated as “fact” by those who have made excuses for this kid. NOT the first time he got his butt in a bind…unfortunately THIS time it almost cost him his life. So why is it “rude” to speak the truth…what he did was STUPID and he’s lucky to be alive. What’s so harsh and hateful about THAT? His parents/lawyers are the ones who told HIM what they wanted him to repeat…He doesn’t remember a thing.

I still find it funny that the parents sued over his chart being accessed inappropriately and wanted his privacy respected. I understand being upset over that. I agree with those employees being fired. But if privacy was so important, why do they continue to speak with the media (and be on tv shows??).

So am I the only one that remembers that he had gotten taken to jail earlier that morning? The kid was 19 and he had drugs and alcohol in the car as well as a 15 yr old girl. Taken to jail at 7 am and then released. Almost 15 minutes after he got out of jail this happened.

You need to quit thinking you’re still at that “rave party” you attended recently. Your Tyretts Syndrome is getting worse, also. Get your meds from the VA, rave a little less, enjoy the sunset there in Florida, and startle people a little less with your outbursts…….O.K?

Let’s write a book and call it “The Moron of 675” That chucklehead should have gone to the pokey as soon as he got out of the hospital. His license should also be suspended.

It’s all science. He was speeding and he went across a “drainge culvert” that initially launched the car up onto the guardrail that lauched the car into the air. Had it not been for the storm drain, he probably would have smashed into the guardrail and died.

As the proverbs say: God protects children, drunkards and fools…apparently this young man fit in there somewhere.
