Local football player’s charity to be featured on DIY network
Greenville High School grad Matt Light’s charity will get a turn in the national spotlight.
The Do It Yourself network (DIY) will feature The Light Foundation, a non-profit founded by the New England Patriots left tackle, on “Indoors Out” 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 3.
The show is hosted by Derek Stearns and Dean Marsico.
Last June, Chenoweth Trails in Greenville hosted the Light Foundation’s third annual, 10-day outdoor leadership program known as Camp Vohokase.
Twelve boys from Greenville, Rhode Island and West Lafayette, Ind. took part.
They hunted, fished and helped DIY build a state-of-the-art cooking area and fire pit at the camp ground with assistance from appliance maker Viking.
The project is valued at nearly $200,000 and includes an outdoor pizza oven, a 300 million year-old fossil stone patio, counters, polished stone tables and stone seats.
Several other companies helped as well, including Spencer Landscaping and Fourman’s Sand and Gravel of Greenville.
The Light Foundation creates and maintains outdoor programs for youth.
