Dog advocates nationwide helped rescue dogs from putrid Clark County shelter
Last week’s rescue operation of hundreds of dogs from a Clark County shelter brought out dog advocates from around the country. Emanuel Maciel, of New Bedford, Massachusetts called it “A shame and heart-wrenching situation.”
On Tuesday, 30 animal control officials acting in conjunction with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals removed 349 living and 76 dead dogs from the facility, which purported to save animals at risk of euthanasia. Instead, what officials found were dogs living in unsanitary conditions, surrounded by their own waste.
