Dayton native’s movie to hit theaters in October
The feature film “N Secure” directed by 1975 Fairview High School grad David M. Matthews will hit 500 to 800 theaters nationwide beginning Oct. 15.
Matthews, an Emmy winning composer for “The Young and the Restless,” has written or worked in production for television series including “Cybill,” “The Nanny,” “Living Single,” and “Half and Half.”
Essence Atkins, the co-star of Half and Half, stars in the “N Secure” along with Cordell Moore and Denise Boutte. Tempestt Bledsoe of “Cosby Show” fame is also featured in the film about a self-made man who was raised in an oppressive household and now has relationship problems.
Matthews, the author of the 2008 advice book “Every Man Sees You Naked: An Insider’s Guide to How Men Think,” said his independent film is part drama and part suspense.
“It’s an entertaining film I am hoping a lot of people will enjoy it,” he said.
The former WDTN cameraman encourages other interested in a career in show business to pursue their dreams.
“There are opportunities out here,” the Dayton native said. “It can be a very frustrating at time, but if it is your dream you just have to go for it.”
