Visits up at nudist church

Now here’s a church that takes the “come as you are” thing seriously.

Members of Whitetail Chapel in Ivoa, Va. worship completely in the buff, baring their souls and everything else.

The church is part of Whitetail Nudist Resort which received more than 10,000 visitors last year, according to a report by WVEC 13 News in Virginia.

“I really don’t think God cares what you wear when you worship. The thing is worship,” said Richard Foley, a member of the congregation, said.

Business is up 12 percent at the resort.

What do you think?

Revelations 16:15 Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed. Granted the passage is talking about being prepared for the end, obviously nakedness is considered “shameful”.

Revelations 16:15 Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed. While the passage is referring to preparedness, obviously being naked is not a GOOD thing, it’s a SHAMEFUL thing.

The only thing shameful is you.

Upon review of the referenced verse, in a number of “God Breathed” translations of His Word/Truth; in the context of the balance of the chapter. I am left with the reference to clothing being metaphorical for being unprepared in our hearts/souls for Christ return. I see where in the context of this passage there is anyway to come to the conclusion that it is meant to be a “literal” reference to clothing. Now as to if nudity is shameful. If your intent and actions is/are to dishonor God’s commandments then yes. Just as if your intent/actions were to dishonor Him while fully clothed. In symbolistic piety one could of course worship in the nude as a means of communing your recognition that nothing is yours. Even your body was given to you by God. And if you just don’t want to wear cloths while you worship. Well more power to you, assuming your motives coincide with glorifying His Kingdom. It wouldn’t be my cup of tea. But then again to paraphase “Retired Sgt” statement. There isn’t anybody who would want to see me worship that way. Excepting perhaps God…~;o) In His Service, A Humble Ohio Foot Soldier in the Messiah’s Militia…

Dyslexic finger!!! I’d meant to say, that I don’t see where in the context of this passage there is anyway to come to the conclusion that it is meant to be a “literal” reference to clothing.

“Christians are not perfect, they are just working on it.” These folks are attending church, unlike many of our friends and neighbors. Who are we to criticize them?

Anon from Ohio, you gave an excellent, well-thought-out opinion. I think a big problem with people who profess to be Christians is twisting Biblical verses to fit their viewpoint or personal philosophy…Having said that, I think that just as people often observe what others are wearing in church, they would also be observing naked bodies in a nudist church. If a man observes a woman with a hot body, that could become problematic, if you know what I mean.

Hey, to each his own. You don’t have to agree with or attend the service, so keep your trap shut. Although… some people need to keep their clothing ON.

I have been to the service at White Tail (yes, in the nude) and found it to be one of the most wonderful, safe, and welcoming places on earth. If all churches were as kind and caring as the one at White Tail I’d bet the pews of every church in the nation would be full every Sunday.

Saw this on the 10pm news last nite. It appears each and EVERYONE in attendance at this…”church” needs to be on “The Biggest Loser”. “Naturalists”indeed. Freaks of nature is more like it. No one wants to see these people naked. EVEN GOD!
