Vendors at Dayton “bridal mall’ offer discounts to SharNett brides

Maybe it won’t make up for the frustration they experienced by the sudden closure of SharNett Bridal and Prom, but vendors at The Dayton Bridal Connection, 4140 Linden Ave, Dayton, want to make things better for brides, spokeswoman Lori Cordonnierr wrote in an e-mail.

“We have 80 vendors now, and each one will be making a donation depending upon their particular service or product,” she said. “Some are offering 10% or 15% off packages, Uniglobe VIP Travel is giving away $100.00 off a honeymoon, Your Dream Day is donating a five hour ‘Brainstorming Package,’ it really is dependent upon the individual vendor.”

The discounts will be offered at DBC’s bridal fair noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 26. Fair admission is $5. The offer will be extended to affected brides who displays receipts from SharNett.

SharNett, one of the largest bridal salons in the Miami Valley, stunned area brides when it closed Monday, July 6.

Owner Sharon Arnett has vowed to deliver all ordered dresses.

Arnett decided on Monday night to close the store.

Cordonnier said that the shop’s closing illustrates the poor economy’s impact on small, luxury businesses.

“We were all shocked - so we can only imagine how the brides felt,” she wrote. “We hope to not only help with costs, but to help restore good faith in the wedding industry.”

I am one of the bride’s that went through this mess. Do not buy a dress from Romance Gowns. They are offering a discount to brides dealing with the Sharnett mess. The owner of Romance Gowns is Jill, who was a partner with Sharnett when they ran Dayton Bridal, that closed the same way. They suspect Sharon’s left over dresses are in Romance Gowns store. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!!

Burnedbride you are correct. Dayton Bridal did the same excat thing that SharNett has done. I thought all of this had some type of connection. SharNett moved into the same building as Dayton bridal. My girlfriend sister bought all of her dresses at SharNett. Her wedding isn’t until Sept. but she has been trying to get her merchandise without any luck. Sharon keeps saying she is going to honor all contracts but she isn’t answering any calls or returning any. If the economy is so bad how can she afford a hotel room to set up shop to do alterations when she has a store. Something isn’t right here. I smell a rat.

I agree with you both. Rumor is round the campfire that she is selling all dresses, even ones that were already purchased thru some kind of scam. I was only burned for a couple hundred bucks, but she hasnt returned any of my calls either since last week. I wouldnt doubt if she waits for the lawsuits and then files bankruptcy so she wont ever have to pay us back

Bridesmaids for my wedding ordered dresses from Sharon Arnett. The dress manufacture was never contacted about our order, but Sharon took all of our money. Now she is filling bankruptcy so she won’t have to pay us back! She has yet to return our calls and emails to her. Only dresses that were in her store at time of closing were given out. Sharon Arnett is such a horrible person I don’t know why should would do this. Take money for dresses on July 5th and then shut the store down on July 6th. We ordered our dresses and gave her all of our money at the beginning of June. She closed a MONTH after receiving all of our money, but never ordered our dresses. She was running a ponzi scheme, which is why she went out of business, not the economy!

My Aunt has order her wedding dress and her bridesmaids dresses and paid for them and they are back in the store. I contacted sharon and as her if we could get those dresses. she told me that one of the other girls in the store that was helping us has all of there dresses and gave me the girls number. but not surprisingly we have not gotten any response. Still no dresses, no return calls and no email back. He wedding is in September and the dresses still need to be taken in. What a mess she has created and she does not care about her customers and her promise to make sure that everyone who has paid for there dresses will be taken care of. Is a lie. Sharon cannot be trusted.

I am one of the brides also that never received a phone call, email, nothin. I ended up having to go to another store and rebuy my dress to get it out of the warehouse to even receive it. All my money was stolen and then some bc I had to rebuy it from another bridal store. I did email howard ain and he said that you can protest the bankruptcy and if the authorities feel that she was ripping consumers off instead of running a bad business that criminal charges can be filed. So that’s what I’m going to try to do now to try and get this crude lady back for stealing all our money!

Like all of you, i feel my money has been stolen. She told me to file a dispute with my bank. Unfortunatley the deaedline (July 28) has passed. I didn’t find out they were closed until I called on my delivery date to find out what was going on. We should all get together and get that bankruptcy denied and if necessary file criminal fraud charges. She violated the consumer sales laws of Ohio, this entitles us all to 3 times the amount owed. Brittany, how about starting a facebook page so we can all get together and figure out what to do about her.
