Local youth gets ‘shot’ on Today Show

Dayton Christian High School’s Casey Weber received early morning props on NBC’s “Today Show” Wednesday, April 8.

The 6-foot basketball player was named ‘athlete of the month’ during Len Berman’s segment “Spanning the World.”

The senior made an outrageous full court, buzzer-beating shot against Arcanum last month at UD Arena.

Read the story behind the shot on the Chick Ludwig at Large blog .

Matt and Meredith’s gang was wowed.

The clip of Weber’s making the crazy 90-foot shot and an 80-foot shot during a practice the following day was shown during the segment which highlights amazing sport feats.

A video of a shot from Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James was played just before Weber’s clip.

Weber’s 3-pointer has also been aired on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”

What’s not to like? I’m sure the coaches will cringe, because more students will want to try it, but I’m happy that it’s a good news story on TV for a change.
