Shoppers seeking bargains on Black Friday
The time has come, the deals are out there — all that is left is the hunt.
According to Reuters and reported by CNBC, up to 134 million U.S. consumers will be out shopping this weekend, starting with today’s Black Friday sales.
In the Dayton area, there are big sales at most stores.
Chief among them is Walmart, Best Buy, Sears, Meijer, JCPenney, Toys R Us, Target, Stein Mart, Old Navy and more.
Some early morning shoppers today weren’t impressed by the deals offered.
“There don’t seem to be as good of bargains this year,” said Dayton resident Sandra Mants, who was shopping at the Centerville Target.
Mants was with her two daughters, Mary Haller of Xenia and Lora Blaylock of Evansville, Ind.
“There also are very limited quantities this year,” Haller said.
Janet Hicks, who was shopping at the Sugarcreek Twp. Walmart echoed that sentiment.
“There was stuff gone before we got to it,” the Dayton resident said.
“And we were here when they announced the sale,” added her husband, Ronald Hicks.
But the Hickses, who had already been in line inside the store for nearly an hour, said they were happy with the deal they got on their microwave.
Others thought there were good deals available, especially if you were shopping for kids.
“If you have little ones, the deals are better, but that’s how it always is,” said Connie Shomper, who was shopping with her mother at the Sugarcreek Kohl’s store. “There are a lot of toys on sale.”
Shomper, who was standing in line carrying multiple pillows that cost $3.99 each, said she thought the prices were about the same as last year.
Laura and Mike Roberts, who also were shopping at the Sugarcreek Walmart, got a 42-inch TV and Desk Jet printer.
“We came for the toys,” said Laura Roberts, whose cart just contained the electronics. “But they looked different in the book. We got a good deal (on the TV).”
If you are still in the hunt and want to view the ads for various stores, visit www.Black-Friday.net (click on the store from the list at right) or BFads.com (that site’s store list is on the left.) For Stein Mart, click on this store name.
Here are some other deals, updated by the More With Less Today site earlier this week.

Wal Mart had their items out before 5:00..and people grabbed and stood and waited until the registers opened at 5:00 am…those were not door busters…Wal Mart lied to their patrons..how could anyone get bargains when they were snatched up 6 hours before the sale began??? The Federal Trade Commission need to look into this and investigate.

not totally true. for big items walmart customers stood in lines in the store to get them. yes they waited for hours to get them so shouldnt they be the ones to get them or should someone who comes right at 5 am or a little before get them. waiting for a long time is part of the cost of getting the sales.

beavercreek police did an awesome job. i was in the line at toys r us for 2.5 hours before they opened. line jumpers came determined to jump line and rightly so the people waiting in line for hours were upset and started telling them to go to the back. the police came right before the store opened and did not allow them to jump line. I think they prevented an ugly situation. the arrows on the floor at toys rus once in the store were horrible. that idea was bizarre and totally did not work.

Waiting in line at 5:00 am..yes..waiting in line at 11:00..NO…the doorbusters were to start at 5:00 am…there are those who either cannot get there or wait until 3:00 am to stand in line to get the bargains. To stand in line at 11:00 pm..or 12:00..grab a 5:00 am deal..and wait..that is wrong…and cheats everyone else out who is looking for the bargains. 5 am means 5 am..not 11:00 pm.
