Toys R Us in midst of “super sale”

According to the advertisements, Toys R Us has some of its “lowest prices ever!” for the sale taking place today, Nov. 20, and Saturday.

The biggest discounts — the “doorbusters” — start at 3 p.m. today and last through midnight, and are from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Many items are 50 percent off, including:

Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head (sale price $3.99)

Impecca 2GB MP3/Video Player (sale price $22.49)

Sakar 3-in-1 digital camera (sale price $9.99)

LeapFrog and Leapster games (sale price $12.49 each)

There also is a VTech Touch Tablet Advance (like an educational computer recommended for ages 8-11), which is originally $99.99 marked down to $29.99.

Other sales throughout the store are between 25 percent and 40 percent off as well.

It is definitely worth a look.

Meijer having “why wait” sale Saturday

With the theory that there is no reason to wait for Black Friday for big sales due to these discounts, Meijer is having a one-day, “why wait” sale Saturday, Nov. 21.

The deals are on food, clothes, electronics and more.

Among those deals are a Tom Tom ONE 130 GPS for $99.99 (regularly $129.99) and Vivitar digital cameras for $39.99 (regularly $49.99).

However, if you are in the market for electronics in general and don’t mind the crowds, I would suggest waiting a week. Electronics are one of the main focuses of this year’s Black Friday sales.

In fact, note the many electronics featured in U.S. News & World Report’s Ultimate Insider Black Friday Guide posted this week.

Saturday’s Meijer sale could net you some great deals on food, clothes and dog toys (which are buy one, get one free).

Sears also suggests you not wait and have “Black Friday now!” and guarantees its best prices until Christmas.

Sears’ sale is from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday and has clothes and tools up to 60 percent off, and other discounts throughout the store.

Big 2-day sales kick off today at Kohl’s, E-B

Today, Nov. 20, and Saturday, “It’s all on sale” at Kohl’s.

As the store notes, “absolutely, positively everything door-to-door, wall-to-wall, every aisle, every rack” is on sale during these two days.

Most prices appear to hover around the 55 percent to 60 percent off mark, and in their clearance racks the savings reach 80 percent.

There also are power hours for this Kohl’s sale, from 3 p.m. to midnight today and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Less creatively, but equally effectively, Elder-Beerman is having its own two-day sale today and Saturday.

E-B’s savings are 20 percent to 60 percent many items storewide.
