Pre-Black Friday deals abound this weekend

It is two weeks until the huge bargain shopping day that is Black Friday, but many folks just don’t want to wait that long.

Many retailers have been having big pre-Black Friday sales, and many Web sites have been alerting consumers to the deals that are expected on the big day, Nov. 27.

One of the better sites that is continually updating its list of Black Friday and pre-Black Friday ads is Black-Friday.net.

Among the deals that are slated for this weekend are:

Toys R Us is having a 2-day Mega Sale today and Saturday.

Kohl’s also is having its Mega Sale through Saturday.

Staples has a Holiday Savings kickoff through Saturday.

JCPenney is having night and day doorbusters today and Saturday.

HHgregg has coupons for its Pre-Thanksgiving Doorbuster sale today and Saturday.

Also, Best Buy is having a huge online-only sale, and the online price buster NewEgg is having its Early Black Friday Deals sale this weekend as well.

Walmart has been having big sales all month, and some offer an interesting way to get around discounting an item that has a set price from the manufacturer.

For example, as noted earlier this week, this Saturday shoppers can get a $100 gift card when they buy a Blackberry. That offer is good throughout the week.

As they did with the hardcover book discounts, however, Amazon has since matched that deal.

Kmart has been having a “better than Black Friday” sale, but I think that title is a bit overstated.

For example, in this sale, Kmart has coats for 40 percent off, but JCPenney has been having coats for 50 percent to 60 percent off this month.

Kmart also has a Countdown to Christmas, with different deals each day. Today’s Kmart deal is a 21-picture collage frame for $14.99. It is regularly $29.99 to $34.99.

Consumer Reports also put together a good resource of Black Friday information about stores and sites Thursday.

I will continue to update this blog with these deals as we lead up to and on Black Friday, and will have a comprehensive list of the hours for these stores on that day next week.

I’m not a fan of Kmart. I actually think they’re more expensive than anyone else…

This is the kind of thing I try to teach people. Can I count on a sequel?
