Did the “Idol” judges do the right thing?
America decided Big Mike was going home tonight on “Idol.”
But thankfully the judges stepped in and, by unanimous vote, used their one save of the season to keep one of the best singers in this competition around for at least another week.
In a surprising results show, Michael Lynche was nearly eliminated.
It was a shock to see Big Mike in the bottom three, much less the very bottom. Andrew Garcia and Aaron Kelly, also in the bottom three, barely survived this week, but somehow got more votes than Big Mike.
And then there’s our friend Teflon Tim Urban or Tim the Terrible, who has cast a spell on the young ladies with his Zac Efron looks and charm or has secured the anti-“Idol” votes … you know, the people who want to vote to keep the worst in to sabotage the competition.
America, this is your wake-up call. The wrong person almost went home, so it’s time to stop the madness and send Tim Urban home.
What if your favorite is on the chopping block next week — Crystal Bowersox, Lee Dewyse, Siobhan Magnus, Casey James … the real contenders in this competition besides Big Mike, who should certainly make the Top 4. I don’t think Mike should win this competition … but he certainly has the raw talent to continue.
The only danger is, with the judges using their save, the lack of a safety net for someone even better than Mike next week and beyond.
Seriously, America, what’s wrong with you? Tim Urban has zero talent. He needs to go home or join a boy band. I was hoping Simon’s reverse psychology (praising Tim’s performance) would have worked this week.
Were the judges right to use their save this early in the season (they could use it up until the Top 5)?

I really do think that they hardly got anyone that can actually sing, most of them can do plays and stuff but professional singing I doubt it serious. Who next to go home? anyone stands a chance on this one! really sad!!!!!

To me, The Duke of Hazar, it or this chatter does not matter. Only Obama lovers and dim Dim others would care out there anywhere.

Michael Lynch deserved to go home because I don’t think there should be a judges’ save at all. If the producers are unhappy with the way the results are, then maybe they should overhaul the voting system. They should limit the number of votes per phone line and the number of texts. However, 19E would NEVER agree to do this, since one of their main sponsors is AT&T. They want people to buy Go Phones and text as much as they can. The best singers don’t always win, but the contestants who have the most motivated fans make it farther. It’s obvious now that Mike doesn’t have a large fan base because EIGHT other contestants received more votes this week.

America is not on the mark this year! No way Big Mike should be in the bottom 3! He & Crystal are by far the top 2, based upon talent. I wish this show wasn’t based off popularity, but would use Industry pros to determine who leaves after the top 12 are determined!

Tim should have already been sent home, after all, he already has been once. His girly smile is discusting and he cannot sing!! His days are numbered.

Everyone please, please vote 4 Tim. He’s dreamy and I don’t want to see him go. He is the greatest thing to happen to Idol since Paula left. He’s a great singer and better than anyone else on the show. It shouldn’t even be a contest, Tim should win.

The judges wasted their one save on Mike. Mike was never going to win it and wouldn’t even had been in the top 3 so the judges should not have saved him. He’s not bad, he’s just not star material. Like the judges said, the most emotional performance is when he thinks he is going home, the nite before wasn’t that good. Tim and Katie did pretty good, so I’m glad they got to go another week. Katie is starting to surprise me, actually, being a little better than she was when she started. It should be between Chrystal and Casey for the win, but I think Siobhan will be a close third. Siobhan has a nice voice, but who could compare with Casey and Chrystal? They were perfect! Casey’s song was so emotional, I loved it, and his voice was so fantastic! And Chrystal is the next best thing to Janis Joplin we’ll be seeing. Natural talents, both of them. Lee was fantastic last week, but this week I didn’t care at all for his performance. I thought he shouted his high notes and was totally unimpressed. Andrew needs to go home because imo he’s boring and has no star potential. He’s not bad, just not that good.

Crystal, Lee and Casey are the best. The rest are horrible. Send them all home in a mass elimination.

Big Mike will be like Ruben and disappear in no time at all. Now they have to eliminate two next week. And get off the nasty stuff about Tim - everyone, including Randy Jackson is dumping on him. Give the kid a break - can you do better? I bet not…

The judges were right to use the save. Big Mike is better than several of the remaining singers, though I don’t think he will win it. By the way, Teflon Tim isn’t just getting the young ladies’ vote; he’s also getting the Cougar vote.

“Big Mike” is a one-trick-pony. Same routine every week, gets old after a while. No star quality at all. The judges made a mistake, but the fans will rectify that next week.

oh my God I cant believe it Mike had 1 not so good night never been in the bottom until tonight and America wanted to send him home Katie has had 1 good performance and is still in it. Andrew and Tim are terrible shouldn’t even be there. this has been one of the worst American Idol shows I have ever seen this year has the least amount of talent there is only 3 or 4 good ones. and Big Mike happens to be one of them. I will be voting next week there must be a bunch of kids voting.
