Another lady goes home on “American Idol”

Simon was right. Tim Urban really does seem untouchable.

Despite making the bottom three for a second week and having an atrocious performance once again, this contestant (who wasn’t even in the original Top 24 mind you) is safe for another week.

During Tuesday’s judges’ commentary, judge Simon Cowell basically said it didn’t matter what he thought of Tim’s performance because Tim would just smile and be back another week.

So that meant so long Didi Benami.

Despite a valiant effort for the save with a repeat performance of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon”, the judges opted not to use the one save of the season on Didi.

All I want to know is why do the ladies keep going home week after week?

Katie Stevens was the other contestant in the bottom three, also for a second week in a row after a decent performance. But she was the first of the three sent to safety again.

Siobhan Magnus was really lucky her fans saved her because this week she was one of the worst during Tuesday’s live show. She flopped not only for song choice (“Through the Fire” by Chaka Khan) but because she was really off key. To her credit, Siobhan handled her struggles gracefully and seemed very gracious that she will get another chance. Besides, Siobhan has had some real standout moments this season, so she has gained a loyal following.

What did you think of the outcome?

Time for a rant

Remember when results shows used to be a half-hour? Between the “Clash of the Titans” plugs and the dull in-show Ford commercials, Justin Bieber in the audience and the endless commentary from Ryan Seacrest and the judges, this show just dragged on and on and on.

The performances from Usher (singing new single “OMG” with the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am), Diddy Dirty Money (not a name change this time, but the addition of new group I guess) and Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard were the only semi-tolerable parts (I said semi-tolerable) of the show. I wish the judges would critique the guest performers each week. I wonder what Simon really thought about Usher and Diddy’s grand productions.

I did sort of enjoy when Big Mike Lynche grabbed Seacrest in a bear hug and lifted him off the floor in retaliation for the brief moment he believed he was in the bottom three. Even better: Big Mike wore a fake rat tail and gave Ruben Studdard workout tips. Life just doesn’t get any better …

Did you hear?

Hey “American Idol” die-hards, did you catch that Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken are going on a short tour together this summer so you can relive those glorious Season 2 memories. I don’t know about that one. I hear Clay can be a little creepy on stage…

Didi did need to go home but not before Tim. He is the worst! I don’t think he has had 1 good preformance. The boy can’t sing really. He can carry a tune but that’s about it, and he needs to go! I agree that Crytal will win but I think Lee won’t be far behind. The judges are getting tired of Sioban so I don’t think she will go as far as she would have in the beginning.

This might just be me being hopeful, but maybe there is an underground movement to derail this show by voting the worst people to the top and making fans lose interest/faith in the show. Alas, even if that worked, the network would fill its place with something undoubtedly shallower and more brainless.

I have no clue what american wants! I’m so confused. I mean they have already sent home three people that should sooooo still be there, but yet we have people like Katie, Tim and Andrew all still there and they Suck! Really! Di-Di should not have went home. I am so disappointed is this years show that I think this will be my last year watching it. The only people left that totally deserve to be there are Crystal, Siobhan, Lee & Casey.

Not really surprised at the folks who have been let go, so far, but really have to disagree with your take on Siobhan, “To her credit, Siobhan handled her struggles gracefully and seemed very gracious that she will get another chance.” Gracefully? All we saw was a petulant, pouting child who wouldn’t crack a smile or make eye contact last night and seemed angry at the world because she was told, for once, that she did a lousy job the night before. I was really disappointed in her attitude. She has been my favorite, till now. Not sure what to think at this point. Did anyone else notice this? Maybe my perception of her behavior is way off base.

Once again… the “general” American public has proven why they are mindless nit-wits… voting on appearances, not substance… you freakin’ sheeple!!!

why are the ladies going home week after week? It’s because the majority of people who actually vote are ladies and they googoo for the guy singers even if they suck. Most men don’t care enough to vote.

In all fairness, Tim was great that one week. I haven’t liked Katie from the beginning. She needs to go home. Aaron is good, but not seasoned enough, and I believe he was having problems w/his voice this week. If he doesn’t improve, he’ll be next to go home. Tim has a good attitude, but he’s not going to win or even come close, bless his little heart! :) Lee rocked it out, so if he can continue maybe he’ll be in the finals.

I have never been a Didi fan, but she is WAY better than Tim. I think Tim is awful and has been since the beginning. I dont know why he is still on the show. I wouldnt listen to him on the radio let alone buy his cd’s. He must have a lot of friends voting for him at home. Go Big Mike and Crystal!!!

Does anyone else think that Ryan Seacrest is being a huge a$$ this season. It seems like every week he’s leaning on the judges desk in Simon’s face. I truly believe the guy thinks he’s the boss of the show? Which is funny because once Simon leaves, AI won’t last two years. I hope for the day that Simon just hauls off and punches Seacrest in his cork soaker!

Glad to see Didi go home. She did have the worst performance tho she did better last nite, but still not worthy of judges using the save. Tim did better than Didi, and he’s there for at least another week. Cute smile I have to say, and I love his attitude. Chrystal will win but Lee, Mike, and Siobhan will continue to challenge her every week. Hoping that Aaron can get another great performance since last time wasn’t so great. He’s better than that. Katie won’t win, should go home soon.
