Dancing with the Stars Latest Update - Week 8 Results - a surprise exit?

After last night’s first-rate night of dancing, it’s hard to say just who is going home this week on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’

Kicking off tonight’s show is another rousing performance by Team tango. It’s too bad that the whole season couldn’t be like this!

Tonight’s special guest is song writer and singer - Robin Thicke - yes, for those of us old enough, this is the son of Alan Thicke of Growing Pains fame.

The first two couples back for another week are Lil’ Kim & Derek Hough and Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower.

I could have done without the ‘comedy’ fillers this week, but I guess they can’t dance all the time.

After a second Robin Thicke performance, the four pro dancers are back vying for a spot on next season’s show.

Before we get to see the pros dance, we learn Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke will be back for another week.

This week the pros switch partners, so Geyna is paired with Afton and gives a very nice quick step performance. Anna and Mayo dance a jive and made it look so easy. What a tall couple and they are soooo thin.

Back to the competition. Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas are returning for another week leaving Chuck Wicks & Julianne Hough and Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani on the dance floor chopping block. Sticking around for another week are Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani - so we say farewell to

Chuck Wicks & Julianne Hough. I’m a little surprised, but it all comes down to the weighted viewer votes.

Im so glad Melissa got another chance, she is a beautiful dancer. Ty just tugs at your heartstrings for trying so hard, and he’s getting really good. I was really tired of the intimacy of Juliane and Chuck interfering with the dance routines, take it somewhere else, and now they have thanks to the viewers.

What does the culture of Alabama have to do with anything? Chuck was getting better, but the intimacy with his girlfriend/dance partner did him in, I think. Melissa is a great dancer and Ty has shown as he put it, “when [he] holds on, [he] knows how to hold on” and does real well with those kinds of dances. I think he feels the rhythm of the dance when he holds onto his partner.

Chuck went home. Why not Ty or Melissa? That was a shocker. Chuck is the first good dancer to go home. If Ty looked less robotic and if Chuck didn’t perform, I’d agree. Ty or Melissa should have gone home. Maybe it was his comment that Alabama should vote for him. Alabama doesn’t have the best record as a culture.
