Megan squawks her way off American Idol stage tonight.
Over 36,000,000 million votes came in last night. It really is quite amazing when you think about it. Who will be in the bottom three tonight? Well according to our Idol Poll the bottom will be Scott, Anoop and Megan, with Megan leaving by a mile! According to DialIdol.com it is Anoop, Allison and Megan at the very bottom.
I know this surprises a lot of people but I’ve always secretly liked the group numbers on results night. But this year the lip syncing is so incredibly awful that it is distracting. Have lip synced every year? I swear I’ve never seen it before.
Ryan stopped to chat with the kids before the eliminations begin and they honestly look like they are the best of friends. They all do impressions of each other and even Ryan thinks this must be the closest group of finalists of any season.
Megan stands, Matt stands, Kris stands and then Ryan asks them to come to the far side of the stage. Now it’s Adam, Lil Rounds, and Allison. Then those three go to the center of the stage. The last three are Scott, Danny and Anoop. Who is in the bottom three? Wow. If they pick one whole group it would mean that either Kris, Adam or Danny could be in the bottom three? As of tonight, I would have picked those three to be in it at the end.
David Cook sings his new single, Come Back To Me. I bought this CD the first day it was out and I figured this song would be the second or third release on the album. I love this guy. Ryan brings out a plaque with a platinum record in it. Wow. In less than a year there is just a “veteran” air about him just like it has with previous Idol’s when they come back. What a ride!
Breaking News! David Cook will be at Clark State University in Springfield on May 27 with tickets going on sale April 8 at 10:00 a.m. For ticket info call 1-800-722-8587 or go to pac.clarkstate.edu. Guess who will be trying to be front and center for that concert!!!
So Ryan starts at the first group…Kris is safe. Ryan says to Matt “you’re going to have to take a seat.” Then lets him walk all the way over to the bottom three seats and then points to the benches on the other side. That was just mean. Mean. Megan is in the bottom three. Now on to the next group and Lil is safe. Allison is in the bottom three. Adam is safe. Now on to the last three…Danny is safe. Scott is safe and Anoop is in the bottom three.
So the bottom three end up Megan, Allison and Anoop. Exactly who DialIdol.com chose and our very own Idol blogger Shantei who was the only one of us who guessed those three. Most of us got the Megan part but no one saw all three but her. Good judging Shantei!
We are back from the commercial and Ryan immediately sends Allison back to safety. He then sends Anoop back to the benches. Megan is going home and she is just acting like an idiot tonight. She’s doing bird sounds and flapping her arms and acting all goofy. Simon tells her right up front even before her song that there is no way they are going to save her. Then she does her song and continues her goofy and ridiculous behavior and even stumbles through the words. She then takes the microphone from Ryan and says she loves the staff at Idol and she loves the judges and “she’s comin’ home baby.”
So no one is surprised with this elimination and all I can say is I hope her behavior is just her way of coping with disappointment and she’ll clean it up for the summer tour.
Next week the Top 8 will take on songs from the year they were born. I’m going to have to do a little research on this one!!!
So who else will be going to see David Cook in May?

it was time for megan to go. she was not that good and sounds like she sings through her nose. she didn’t have much repect. don’t know if she was ready to go home or what, but poor sportmanship. she should of been gone sooner. lil is good but needs to find herself before she runs out of time. it is going to be interesting this year. and yeah they all seem to be closer than before. which makes it harder for them. i would like to see them in tour but they don’t get to sc so i won’t get to see them.By Kelle

Thanks folks! Because I type through the better part of the show I don’t always catch the quick shots in the crowd. I did see Alexis later in the show but I did not see that she was with Jason Castro. Hmmm. I also wondered why she is still there. Is it part of the contract in the beginning that they have to spend so much time there even once they are kicked off? Even in earlier seasons I was amazed at how often they came back after they are officially gone. I am intrigued by the idea that they may bring someone back. Now wouldn’t that be an interesting twist?By Ziggy75

Yeah - America got it right sending Megan home - she just couldn’t make it work. And I do think the bird thing was an inside joke - but this isn’t high school or Real World - it’s American Idol and the way she acted was completely disrespectful and inappropriate. I have been routing for her - but that was ridiculous. And it seemed she was burning a bridge or two - not smart if she wants to stay in this business. Maybe she really doesn’t care and in that case whatever. I am really surprised at Allison being in the bottom - I don’t get that! Her performances have been far more consistent and typically entertaining than Scott, Matt or Lil. Why do you think she is not getting any support? Is it her age? Is it because she isn’t a tall blonde? I don’t get it - she is my favorite female. Lil is a great singer but has yet to show she is an artist - and she is running out of time to figure it out! It could all shake up again next week! I won’t be going to see David Cook - but I’m all about going to see the Idol tour again this year for the first time since Season 5! :)By Heather

Megan’s squawking, I believe, was in reference to singing her final “Swan Song”. I think she was telling us that she knew she was going home as soon as they placed her in the bottom three. Google “Swan Song” and you’ll get the reference.By Heather

America definitely got it right last night. I think Megan’s actions were just a reflection of some inside jokes (like someone else mentioned) and the fact that she knew in her heart she was heading home. It did tug at my heart when she broke down after seeing the footage of her son. I don’t think Alexis will be back. I remember seeing other contestants sitting in the audience after they’ve been booted. I think they are just there to support their friends. Next week should be fun. Of course, it always makes me feel old to hear songs that I clearly remember and then realize these kids were born the same year they came out!By MK

Oh and yes, I spotted Castro in the crowd with Alexis. Not sure what’s going on there, but I hope they don’t let him come back and “sing” again. One bad season of him was more than enough for me.By Hillary

I am SOOOO glad Megan is gone. She really grated on my nerves. The whole bird thing was just weird. It had to be an inside joke with Allison (she sort of did it too) or something, but it was still weird. I have loved Kris from the beginning and I’m glad people are finally coming around to him and maybe (hopefully) realizing that Danny’s not half as good as some of the others. David Cook was amazing! OK…did you see Alexis sitting next to Jason Castro at the very beginning?? And Alexis was in some of the video shown from the mansion on last nites show….is she still living there, obviously she has not gone home. I am so glad Megan is gone. I can’t believe she is going to be on tour, especially after the straight disrespect on the show. She made weird bird noises and “I don’t care” comment was not necessary. I’m hoping Matt and Lil redeem their selves this week. It’s obvious they can sing, but totally been choosing the WRONG songs. Kris, Danny, and Adam definitely will be in the finals. Lil can blow and she needs to get back to what got her here. Matt is a SOUL MAN needs to leave the rock alone.By Richard

I could not have agreed with Simon more… “If you don’t care, then nor do we”. Man, Megan was just a weird fool last night, and deserved to be gone. She was an embarrassment on that stage. By the way, they said one was worth saving… that would have been Allison -they “saved” Anoop once already by putting him in the top 13. Matt, Anoop and Allison will be the next ones to go I think.By joe

Cook’s performance tonight was sub par. His new single Come Back To Me is not very good and dragged on forever… he sounded pitchy in a lot of spots, and the sound quality was very bad…. Was disappointed.By nully

Megan’s behavior was embarrassing tonight. I can’t believe she is in the top 10 and will be on tour. She can’t sing and she totally can’t dance. I am so glad that she is gone. Being that she was the pick for “vote for the worst”, she went quickly. Guess I wasn’t the only one totally turned off by her. I would have been really mad if a bunch of people voted for her for the wrong reason and she knocked another contestant out of the race. Thank you for listening to my point of view!By Shantei

Thank you, thank you! Megan really needed to go! She acted like a blame fool on T.V. I did not expect for Anoop to be in the bottom 2, I did think it would have been Allison and Megan. I was torn between Anoop and Matt, but Matt wasn’t that bad. Just wasn’t original. I am still not sold on him though. Anoop was bad this week, and I REALLY, REALLY hope that he redeems himself next week. Lil needs to redeem herself too.
