Another contestant goes home. ‘American Idol’ Latest Update
After learning more than 45 million votes had been cast for the contestants this week, the results show gets underway with a tribute to Neil Diamond and his songs… yuck! They’d all be voted off for that performance.
Neil Diamond and Natasha Bedingfield are up later in the show… but we really want to know is who will be going home.. right? But before we can go there, they just have to do a recap last night’s (Apr 29) show - don’t they.
So, who will stay - around for another week..
Jason Castro - Results=Safe. How is he safe…. I mean really?
Next
David Archuleta - Results=Safe. that one makes sense!
Again, the producers make us wait.
David Cook - America voted = Safe. Agreed.
So, Syesha and Brooke are on the block and I think most of us would agree with this choice. Who, will it be?
The readers of this blog voted and said Jason should be the one to go (results below)… I guess we got it wrong… but will America get it right?
[an error occurred while processing this directive]I usually hate the filler part of the show… but the Q & A that put Simon on the spot was priceless. Simon’s first crush called in and made this hard-edged judge blush.
Neil Diamond gives the contestants a few words of advice before we find out thier fate. His words apply to anyone… If you love it, stay with it… If you love it, don’t stop, ever, ever, ever.
And finally, the results.
Going home is…
Brooke White… visibly the most shaken of all of the contestants sent home so far this season - America sends another Idol wannabe home. I think they got it right only if Jason Castro goes home next.
[an error occurred while processing this directive]Agree? Why is Jason still in this competition?
TweetPaula finally has a moment. ‘American Idol’ Latest Update
In one of the wackiest moments this season, Paula Abdul gives one of the Idol contestants feedback for a song he hadn’t yet sung…
As the judges went around giving the contestant’s their feedback Paula seemed to have gotten lost. Ryan said, “You’re seeing the future baby,” after Paula tells Jason Castro “The second song, I felt like your usual charm wasn’t — it was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty.” True enough…he hadn’t yet performed the song she was reviewing. Abdul said “The two songs… made me feel like you’re not fighting hard enough to get into the top four.”
I guess the pressure is getting to the judges as well.
You go Paula!
TweetHigh drama & Def Leppard “Dancing with the Stars” Latest update - Results
So, of all the nights I miss a show, it would be the one with drama - an injury and surprise performances. Thanks to the recaps and the Internet I don’t think I missed too much… but who will go this week is the real question.
The DanceCenter was hilarious. Featuring Jerry Rice, Kenny Mayne and Len Goodman - commenting on the dancers and their skills… I’ll be fast forwarding through the second half show.
The filler act this week, Def Leppard. I didn’t know they were even still around. I guess it isn’t quite State Fair fair season yet… is it? (Sorry I couldn’t help it. BTW… I loved Def Leopard back in the day.)
Continuing to the next round are are…
This week we say goodbye to…
Do you agree with the vote?
TweetWho goes next? ‘American Idol’ Latest Update final 5 compete
Ryan starts of tonight’s show by reminding the viewers of last week’s shocking outcome... If he wasn’t trying to get people to vote you would have thought he was rubbing it in that Carly was gone.
The one-hour version of the show is sure to keep things moving right along!
Tonight (Apr. 29) is Neil Diamond night on Idol.
Each contestant will be singing two songs.
Up for his first is Jason Castro.
Jason Castro
Tonight’s songs - “Forever in Blue Jeans’ and ‘September Morn ”
Neil’s Take - “He’ll do fine when he gets up on stage…”
My Take - I think he should have spent a little time getting to know the words before meeting the artist.. I’m just saying. Notice the gutair... The second song was better but You really get the sense he’s bored with the whole Idol thing.
Randy - “I thought it was just okay. It was just okay. Definitely not the best. ”
Paula - ” I loved hearing your lower register. Safe… get out of your comfort zone. ”
Simon -” Forgettable. Jason we don’t recognize it a bit. You struggled through both songs. “
David Cook
Tonight’s songs - “I’m Alive” and “All I Need is You”
Neil’s Take - I got goose bumps - that’s a very gutsy choice in songs. He’s got the right attitude… the right material… he’ll do great.”
My Take - He seems to be trying to imitate Neil Diamond’s voice somehow… He seemed a little subdued for a song about being alive. The second song - was his!
Randy - “Very Strong. You know what man… again you rocked the house again tonight. “
Paula - “… You are the only one who was able to pull that off… I feel like I’m already looking at the American Iodl. ”
Simon -“Just above average. The second song was brilliant. You actually made that song feel like it was from this year. “
Brooke White
Tonight’s songs - ” I’m a believer” and “Now am I said ”
Neil’s Take - It’s (the song) a difficult to sing and make genuine… but I was very impressed.
My Take - Brooke’s bust’n out a piano and a guitar. Based on her first song I don’t think it’ll be enough to keep her in the game… it was a little too low for her. Much better than the first song - Jason’s performance may be the only thing saving her for another week.
Randy - “Better than last week. Nice Job!”
Paula - “… I think what you just did… that works. ”
Simon -” Nightmare. I really, really hated the first song… this is the Brooke we like… sitting behind the piano. “
David Archuleta
Tonight’s songs - “Sweet Caroline” and “America”
Neil’s Take - He’s kind of a prodigy… with a little guidance an suggestion, I hope he takes to heart, I think he’ll do great.
My Take - So far, he’s the first one to make the song his own and he’s been working on keeping his eye’s open! His second song choice… maybe not the best though.
Randy - ” The Bomb. All is I can say is for a young man… you’re in the zone. “
Paula - ” . The was the perfect song for you to sing. You’re voice is so on point. ”
Simon -“Amateurish. That was a smart choice of song… it ticked all the boxes… it was the right choice - check, check, check. “
Syesha Mercado
Tonight’s songs - ” Hello Again” and “Thank the Lord for the Night Time. ”
Neil’s Take - I thought she did very, very well… You can’t help but want to clap along… she’ll do great in the actual performance.
My Take - This is one of her better night’s - but is it enough? I’m not sure. The first song was much better! It was almost like it was a different person singing the second song.
Randy - “It was strong - not amazing but strong. You are finally realizing who you are. I like you in this.”
Paula - “… You’ve got that softness in that voice. ”
Simon -” Old-fashioned. You are a very good actress/singer… I think you might be in trouble tonight. “
America, after tonight’s performances who will go? Can you say Jason Castro? What did you think about tonight’s show?
What did you think of Paula’s big blunder?

TweetBig Brother 9 -Shocking conclusion - Finale Update
While ‘Big Brother 9’ held my interest for a few shows, I had to stop watching. Despite CBS’s attempts to change up the show, this group of contestants was one of the biggest group of whiners I’ve watched on a reality TV show in a long time.
So, when I read that Adam Jasinski, had won “Big Brother 9,” I have to say I was little shocked. This is the guy that stirred up some controversy and lost his job at charity early in the season after making disparaging comments about children with autism. Jasinski, who claimed to work for an autism foundation said if he won he would spending is winnings on kids with autism “so retards can get it together and get their hair done.”
Adam on Left - Ryan, Season 9 runner-up from Columbus, Oh on right.
Clearly something had changed after I stopped watching the show, as this was the last guy I would have thought could have won this season’s show.
What happened… how did he manage to pull out a win?
I’d love to know.
TweetWho should go? ‘Dancing with the Stars’ latest update
Thanks to a mix-up on my part - I missed tonight’s (Apr 28) episode of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
So, rather than read what the judges or I thought about the performances I thought It might be fun to hear what you all thought about tonight’s show.
Without seeeing the show- here’s my ranking on who is most likely to go home(ranked from most to least likely to go):
- Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska
- Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough
- Cristian De La Fuente & Cheryl Burke
- Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani
- Mario & Karina Smirnoff
- Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas
What did you think? Who will be going home.
TweetVH1’s ‘Viva Hollywood’ is the hottest new reality TV show!
Imagine the sauciest romance novel, add a dash of drama, follow a familiar plot and you’ve got a telenovela.
VH1 has added a twist - A reality TV show built around the idea of 12 contestants vying for their chance to be a telenovela star.
The series started airing in mid-April - not to worry, you still have time to catch up. VH1 is always running re-runs.
Viva Hollywod lives up to its name with more drama and more eyecandy in the first five minutes of the show than most shows have in a whole season. Really - check this out… this is my new reality TV fav!
Warning - the Video isn’t for Everyone - PG-13
Guest judges scheduled to appear include; Charo, Daisy Feuntes, America Ferrera, Cristian De La Fuente and Perez Hilton.
TweetRejected Idol - Previously rejected elsewhere. American Idol: Latest Update
Last night’s (Apr 23) American Idol reject, Carly Smtihson, should be just fine. While the results were shocking to most of us who’ve been following the show the singer is likely to land on her feet singing when this is all over.
It appears this is the first go round for Smithson. In 2001, Smithson, released an album under the name Carly Hennessy called “Ultimate High.” The album is a mixture of folk pop vibe with country lyrics. The Album is on YouTube if you really like her work (See Below).
Several posters to this blog hav emade several references to the “ringers” that are finalists this season. It is easy to forget many of these contestants are vying for their second chance at fame…
Here’s the video from the album.
TweetDouble shocker on American Idol: Latest Update
So what week is this? Some might ask, “who cares…” but when you consider the 38 million votes cast for the six finalists - you’d have to say millions of viewers do.
Kicking off tonight’s show is Andrew Lloyd Weber playing the piano as the six finalists sing “All I Ask of You” from the Phantom if the Opera.
Before we get down to the results President Bush and the First Lady thanking those who help to raise more then $65 million.
Now on to the results -
Starting with the Davids… Cook and Archuleta… they are both safe.
Did you all catch Jason Castro yawning when the camera cut away to the contestant’s waiting to hit the stage. He must not be too worried about being voted off.
So why didn’t they have another idol alum back to perform?
Leona Lewis performs her hit ” Bleeding Love.”
Back to the show. Syesha Mercado and Brooke White are up next. OMG Brooke is safe… and Syesha could be going home. How the bleep did that happen.
Who will be joining Syesha… will it be Carly or Jason Castro? OMG another shocker… The producers have the bottom two sing their songs from last night… ouch!
The drama. Randy is shocked Carly and Syesha are in the bottom two.
Carly is going home… WOW! The judges give Carly many kind words… America got this one way wrong! Agree - disagree - discuss?
[an error occurred while processing this directive] TweetMiami Valley connection to another reality TV show
It appears Jackie Warner, star of Bravo TVs ‘Work Out,’ isn’t the only one with a Miami Valley Connection. Warner, an alum of Fairborn High School, has returned to the area to film bits with her mom and as she gave a talk at her high school.
The each week the show features, Warner’s gym SKY SPORT & SPA and her merry band of fitness hotties as they make their way through the process of shaping up the rich and famous of LA.
Helping Warner is Gregg Butler. Born in Solon, Ohio, Butler worked as a youth fitness instructor at a local gym. After setting a power lifting record of 715 lbs. he moved on to attended Miami University on a full-ride track scholarship.
Buter’s skills aren’t limited to athletics. In a recent ‘Work Out’ episode we see Butler trying his hand as a musician. Warner’s Web site says Butler “has lost almost 30 pounds since last season and he doesn’t have that “power lifter” build like he used to.” (Click here for his Myspace Page).
According to the Warner’s Web site. Butler “sees fitness as part art and part science. Understanding not just the mechanics of exercise, but its purpose and functionality to you, will make a workout more real, more effective and most importantly, catered to the individual, allowing true lifestyle change to begin.”
If your lifestyle is in need of a little changing you can hire the trainer to help at his going rate of $110 per hour… airfare not included.
You can see Butler and Warner on ‘Work Out,’ Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on Bravo TV.
TweetDancing with the Stars - Results with Ashlee Simpson
Will it be Jason or Marlee’s night to ride off into the sunset? or… who will it be to be tripped off the “Dancing with the Stars” stage.
Thanks goodness we get to see the group dance for a second time… this was way fun. Watching this number it is hard to believe that this group of dancers doesn’t do this all the time…
Ashlee Simpson serves as the intermission entertainment this week… What else do you call the entertainment between the beginning and the reason we are all tuning in - the results? Simpson sings a song from her new album that is available today (Apr 22) imagine that.. is she trying to be Lilly Allen - give it up and fast forward.
More filler - River Dance… at least it is dance! Nice!
The third round of the children’s ballroom competition takes place pitting Brandon and Brittany against Austin and Liza. This is a talented group of kids - the adults should take some cues from these kids - WOW! The couple sticking around for another week are Brandon and Brittany.
Safe this week is Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough, Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony, Cristian De La Fuente & Cheryl Burke, Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas and Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska.
The couples that could be going home are … Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez (no surprises here) and Mario & Karina Smirnoff.
I think America got it right…
going home is Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez. Agree… disagree? Discuss.
TweetFinal six and Andrew Lloyd Weber on ‘America Idol’ - Latest Update
While Earth Day has nothing to do with the theme tonight, ‘American Idol’ plans use green power during the finale, says Ryan Seacrest.
Taking the stage to perform this week is David Cook, Carly Smithson, Brooke White, David Archuleta, Jason Castro and Syesha Mercado.
The theme for tonight is the best of Broadway and the music of Andrew Lloyd Weber - They’ve added some instruments to the band - so this should sound good - but I can’t imagine Carly Smithson or Syesha Mercado singing Andrew Lloyd Weber… We’ll just have to wait and see what the magic of the night has in store.
If you were looking to cast your vote tonight Idol opened up two phone lines… hmmm, maybe there was something to the idea the Michael Johns went out due to the phones?
On to the show…
Syesha Mercado
Tonight’s song - ” One Rock and Roll Too Many ”
Andrew’s Take - I think she could well bring the house down.
My Take - Tonight’s theme is one that really works for Syesha - although she was still a little bit pitchy. Very good night for her - but was it enough?
Randy - ” This is your element - this is your best performance to date right there. “
Paula - ” This is your happy place. Sire Andrew Lloyd Weber was right - you brought the house down right at the beginning. ”
Simon -” That was very Sexy. This was one of your strongest performances so far. “
Jason Castro
Tonight’s song - ” Memories from Cats”
Andrew’s Take - Jason has made a very brave choice in taking this song.
My Take - I think he needs an instrument to carry him along… that was the weakest performance of the season. He might be going home this week.
Randy - ” Vocally for me it was a little bit of a train wreck. Too much melody for me for you. “
Paula - ” It was a wise choice to do this song. It sounds like a pop ballad. ”
Simon -” It came over as a young guy forced to sing a song at wedding… it was a struggle. “
Brooke White
Tonight’s song - “You Must Love Me ”
Andrew’s Take -I don’t think that girl had a clue about what she was singing about.
My Take - OMG - yet another night of having to start over… this could be the end for her this week… Once again without an instrument… she isn’t the same performer.
Randy - ” Vocally it was a little tough. “
Paula - ” Silence… You must never start and stop. What i loved about your performance is that you didn’t over act.”
Simon - “Your voice was staining in the middle… I think you are going to be very disappointed when you watch this back. “
David Archuleta
Tonight’s song - “Think of Me. ”
Andrew’s Take - The song was written for a diva… I simply could not imagine how a boy could sing that song. Little
David has a musical soul…
My Take - This sounds more like a pop song rather than a song from the Phantom of the Opera. and after the talk - he almost kept his eyes open. WOW! David was so on tonight.
Randy - ” What is really cool… this is what this show is all about.. if you can sing you can sing anything. This is a really big night for you. Dude it was the bomb - This boy is the one to beat. “
Paula - ” I think it was absolutely perfect. You talk a risk… ”
Simon -“I thought it was pleasant and one of your weakest performances over the live shows… it is just not one of those performances you are going to remember - It was forgettable for me. “
Carly Smithson
Tonight’s song - ” Jesus Christ Superstar”
Andrew’s Take - You’ve got to go for a song you can live in… that fits your voice… that you can inhabit (good thing for her he was there or she might be going).
My Take - ALW was right… this was a song for her. That was one of her better nights on Idol! WOW! (okay that was two WOWs tonight)
Randy - “It was definitely good… I like the outfit. “
Paula - ” I love so much it was so unexpected. ”
Simon -” It was actually one of my favorite performances of the night.”
David Cook
Tonight’s song - “Music of the Night ”
Andrew’s Take - Most sexy song I’ve ever written. If David can get some of the raw passion… he might just bring this off - maybe it will work.
My Take - It would have been more believable for me, had David worn a different costume and lost the scarf from his side pocket… it was like a rocker trying to sing opera… It just didn’t work for him or me!
Randy - ” I said it before… if you can sing you can sing… that was an amazing vocal performance. “
Paula - ” I thought it was fantasic.”
Simon -” This is not the side of you I like… it was too rounded off. You made the most of the song for you. “
America, after tonight’s performances who will go? Can you say Brooke White or Jason Castro?

Total 28 out of 30
Next up - the Group Country Dancing - this could be fun! Not only do we get to see the contestants side-by-side - the music should be fun too! Judges thoughts on the group number.
Carrie Ann Inaba - It was a little crazy!
Len Goodman - it was great fun - it had a lot of energy.
Bruno Tonioli - It was like watching the United Nations of Dance.
So who will it be this week? I’m guessing - Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez. Thoughts anyone?
TweetIs America voting for the vocal or the instrument on ‘American Idol’? Latest Update
So a man wiser than I posed a question I thought would make a great discussion topic - Does playing an instrument help or hurt you on ‘American Idol’ ?
Consider this - four of the performers who have played instruments in the top 12 are still alive— David Cook, David Archuleta, Brooke White and Jason Castro.
Was it the piano that saved Brooke White? during a recent juding night she had to start her vocal over - on another she seemed to struggle through the song while the piano-playing was spot on.
Jason Castro played the guitar and the ukulele during his recent performances… again, is it the instrument or the vocals America is voting for?
Same question here… although I think this guy may win the whole thing… David Cook the vocalist or the guitarist?
Last we have David Archuleta - one of the more polarizing contestants this season… He’s been referred to as the one to beat this season for the title of next American Idol… the question is, did the piano play a part in a couple of his weaker performances?
So, what do you think - Does playing an instrument help the contestants stay on American Idol?
Thoughts?
TweetNaomi Judd talks about David Archuleta’s dad: ‘American Idol’ Latest Update
Naomi Judd has some words of advice for David Archuleta’s father: “Leave him alone - his dad is like a monster.” The following is a video from Judd’s appearance on the Today show.
Forward ahead in the video to about 3:30 to hear Naomi’s comments. Judd was a judge on Star Search when Archuleta appeared.
TweetWho will Ryan taunt tonight? ‘American idol’ latest update result
In less than an hour - we’ll know if Ryan has his claws out for another show.
This week, more than 36 million votes were cast - but who will go?
Before the show starts I have one question for Paula, is it prom night somewhere… sorry I had to ask.
Who will stay and who will go?
What was that Ford commercial…. OMG?
Staying around for another week is Jason Castro, Carly Smithson, David Archuleta
Why in the world did the producers put David in the middle asking him to choose the group he thought was safe…. That was just mean! Good for your David to just sit in the middle!
On the block, Kristy Lee Cook, Brooke White, Syesha Mercado.
So who will go?
Kristy Lee Cook, goes home… and maybe now I won’t get the Cook’s mixed up. I’d say America got this one right… Do you agree?
[an error occurred while processing this directive]Bye-Bye
TweetAmerica Votes - ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Latest Update
It came as no surprise as the latest ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant is sent home. Joining Adam Carolla, Steve Guttenberg, Monica Seles and Penn Jillette is Priscilla Presley, the fifth star eliminated this season.
I’m not sure her dancing was really the worst. I did think her performance lacked energy and the magical connection necessary to keep her in the dance for another week. At 62, Presely can still move better than many of my friends, half her age.
Read about last night’s show. (click here)
“This has been an incredible experience - I learned so much about myself and all the things I can do,” said Presley.
The kids portion of the show continued with Dmitriy and Michelle and Jared and Cara dancing their little hearts out. Jared and Cara won the judges top nods
- Does anyone else think these shows are turning into today’s version of the 70s and 80s variety show?
My favorite part of tonight’s show (Apr. 15) was the performance by Ozomatli. Wouldn’t they be fun to see live?
Oh yeah… James Blunt sang his new single, “Carry You Home,” it was nice too.
I think America off’d the right dancing couple this week… Agree? Disagree? share your thoughts about the show here!
TweetFinal seven compete - Mariah Carey Helps: ‘American Idol” latest update
With just seven left - the pressure is building as America votes for the next ‘American Idol.’
The special mentor this week is Mariah Carey as she is out and about hawking her current album E=Mc2. That said, Carey seemed truly interested in helping these young performers on to the next stage. Carey called American Idol “the boot camp of all musical boot camps.”
Tonight’s theme is Mariah as a mentor.
David Archuleta
Tonight’s song - “When You Believe.”
Mariah’s Take - She just loves his voice.
My Take - The song seemed a little bigger than he was tonight. But what do I know.
Randy - “You picked on the thoughest songs. you can sing anything - that was the bomb baby.”
Paula - “You made her proud, very proud.”
Simon -” I thought it was very, very good.”
Carly Smithson
Tonight’s song - “Without You ”
Mariah’s Take - “I’ve been loving watching what you’re doing.”
My Take - Nice job! - she seemed like a pro tonight.
Randy -“I liked that you challenged yourself. You’ve got to believe in yourself. “
Paula - “I liked that you shared some vocal restraint. “
Simon - ” I don’t think you pulled it out on the night. I think you are over thinking everything. ”
Syesha Mercado
Tonight’s song - “Vanishing”
Mariah’s Take - “I thought she was really cool and did a great job.”
My Take - She’s got a great voice… but I always get that she is playing the part of singer… never really connecting with the audience.
Randy -“I like that you are bold. You did a good job on it - all things considered. “
Paula - “This week I think you’ve been extremely smart. Tonight was unbelievably magically. “
Simon - ” Technically it was very good indeed. ”
Brooke White
Tonight’s song - “There’s a Hero”
Mariah’s Take - ” I loved Brooke. I thought she was really genuine as a person.”
My Take - A little pitchy for me - it seemed like she sort of lost it in the middle… she was noticeably shaking.
Randy -” The bridge threw me a little.”
Paula - “Every ounce of you is truly authentic to who you are. “
Simon - “It was a bit like ordering a hamburger but only getting the bun. ”
Kristy Lee Cook
Tonight’s song - “Forever”
Mariah’s Take - “I got goose bumps after you sang this. “,br>
My Take - She seemed to get into a groove as the song moved along… but was it enough?
Randy -“I didn’t think that was amazing. “
Paula - ” I’m like blown away. “
Simon - “You didn’t give me chills. You managed with what you could. It wasn’t ever going to be an advantage for you. ”
David Cook
Tonight’s song - “Always be my Baby ”
Mariah’s Take - “It made me proud as a song writer.”
My Take - What was he thinking? It sounded like 80s rock… okay it’s getting a little better near the end…
Randy -” You are a hot recording artist. Randy stands up and claps.”
Paula - “You’re it. “
Simon - “It was like coming out of Karaoke hell into a breath of fresh air. ”
Jason Castro
Tonight’s song - “I don’t want to cry”
Mariah’s Take - “I’m looking forward to Jason’s performance and see if he’ll be using any of my suggestions.”
My Take - This was his weakest performance so far.
Randy -“I didn’t love it. I felt like I was at a weird beach Luau”
Paula - ” You’re getting so in that zone.”
Simon - ” Simon agreed with Paula. ”
The guys completely won the night. Mid way through the show Simon said - David Archuelta is the one to beat… do you agree?
The top performers were David Archuleta, Carly Smithson and David Cook. And the performers most likely to go were Syesha Mercado and Brooke White.
Thoughts?

TweetNina Garcia Auf’d by Elle; Project Runway Update
Elle Magazine and Nina Garcia, fashion editor of the magazine and star judge of “Project Runway,” have parted ways.
Nymag.com and Women’s Wear Daily are both reporting Garcia is out.
Nymag.com is reporting:
“From someone in the know, her office was entirely boxed, packed, and waiting in the hallways addressed to her home on the upper east by 5pm yesterday. Plus, the gaggle of crying assistants dragging deflated cardboard down the hall for assembly, in addition to Nina’s demonstrative speaking behind closed doors (made visible by a glass partition) also prompts one to believe that she was not leaving of her own accord.”
Sounds more like an episode of ‘Ugly Betty’ - although, isn’t fashion always filled with drama?
In an interesting twist, Jossip.com is reporting Garcia and this season’s Project Runway winner Christian Siriano had just completed filming an episode of ‘Ugly Betty.’ Isn’t it interesting how real life and fiction get so intertwined.
Garcia had been at Elle since 2000.
TweetRyan Seacrest taunts ejected Idol contestant. ‘American Idol’ Latest Update
Not only was last night’s result show a jaw dropping experience for many, some are wondering if Ryan went too far.
This short YouTube Video helps to explain what many are calling cruel…
I hope that wasn’t scripted although you’d have to think it was… since he had cards and all.
What do you think? Did Ryan go too far giving Michael Johns false hope he wouldn’t be going home?
[an error occurred while processing this directive] TweetWas tonight’s show a shocker? ‘American Idol’ Latest Update
After a night off for ‘Idol Gives back’, ‘American Idol’ returns - and now the results. Okay, not really now, but in about an hour we’ll to the results.
First order of business is to recap last night’s show. Idol Gives back helped to raise more than $60 million for charity as of beginning of tonight’s show (April 10). Last year the show help to raise more than $70 million for impoverished children of the world.
After a choir number featuring the top 8 and a very large choir, the show is off. Next up is a photo-montage-star-lip-snyching version of “I’m a believer.” I’m guessing this is all part of the fund raising but perhaps….unnecessary?
31 million votes came in for this week’s top 8 making it the top number of votes cast this season.
The former idol star for this week is Jordan Sparks along with Chris Brown singing “Air.” Wow, no wonder she was a winner (season six)! She was also recognized for her top selling downloads and top selling cd.
Just a random thought… wasn’t that Ford commercial hot!
Sticking around for for another week are Brooke White, David Cook, David Archeulta, Jason Castro, Kristy Lee Cook.
And, here are the contestant’s who could be going home: Michael John, Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado.
As the bottom three sweat it out… Michael Johns is going home… wow… that was one of the most shocking votes this season!
Thoughts!

Tweet“Project Runway” to end on Bravo - Catfight over ‘Runway’ Update
The Weinstein Company, producers of “Project Runway, aren’t known for playing nice in the TV and film world. So yesterday’s shocking announcement that the firm had signed a five-year deal with the Lifetime network, seemed to only shock the fans.
UPDATED: When the sixth season of ‘Project Runway’ airs it will be on the Lifetime Network. (I’m not even sure what channel that is of if it is included in my package.) The fifth season will air sometime between now and November.
Deals with Michael Kors and Nina Garcia haven’t been reached and they may not be on the Lifetime version while Heidi Klumm and Tim Gunn are reported as being signed.
NBC, Bravo’s parent isn’t sitting in the wings. They’ve filed a breach-of-contract suit to try to block the move.
From the story that ran in the Hollywood Reporter (HR) and other news sources, it appears the Weinstein’s (the brother’s that run the Weinstein co.), were atempting to get access to the Bravo Network by tying the Project Runway deal to a deal that would give air time to other Weinstein productions. HR is estimating the deal for the Weinstein Co at as much as $150 million.
According to the press release issued by the company, “NBC Universal has continuing legal rights related to ‘Project Runway,’ including a right of first refusal to future cycles of the series, which the Weinstein Co. unfortunately has refused to honor. “NBC Universal regrettably had no alternative but to bring legal action to enforce its rights to this program, including the right to decide whether it is in the best interest of the company to continue to air the show under the proposed financial terms.”
What does this all mean for us, the devoted fans of the show? I hope they’re able to work this all out. “Project Runway” is one of the best reality TV shows on the tube… I’d hate to think about a TV season without it!
Tweet“Dancing with Stars’ Who’s voted off? Latest Update
Sheryl Crow kicks off the results show with her hit, “All I Want To Do Is Have Some Fun.” The dancers dance - you know the drill. What we really want to know is who goes home.
The judges called back Adam and Julianne for an encore performance.
Here are the couples that are staying around for another week. Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska and Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas - no surprises here.
Mixing it up this week, the show featured 8 and 9 year-old ballroom dancers. Dancing the samba are Daniela and Aaron… awhh… the song they danced to is “Under the Sea.” Perhaps they can give Adam some lessons.
Next up in the kiddie ballroom competition is Rashell (8) and Aaron (8). Dancing the Paso Doble. Not quite as good as the first group but still outstanding. But the judges thought the first group should come back for another dance.
The next couples to be back for another week are - Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez, Cristian De La Fuente & Cheryl Burke, Mario & Karina Smirnoff, Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough and Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani.
That just leaves Priscilla Presley & Louis Van Amstel and Adam Carolla & Julianne Hough. I’m hoping it’ll be Adam Carolla & Julianne Hough - but who knows…
America voted and the lowest total vote getting couple were…
Adam Carolla & Julianne Hough. I think america got it right!
Until next week.
TweetLatest Update: ‘American Idol’ Top 8 perform
It’s hard to believe we’re down to the top eight already….
Tonight’s theme inspiration songs.
Michael Johns
Tonight’s song - “Dream on”
My Take -This song was made for him - although nothing too original here. “
Randy -” It was a pretty good song choice for you - it had some pitch problems.”
Paula - “It was a perfect song for you.”
Simon - “Very good performance - it was a little bit wannabeish.”
Syesha Mercado
Her song tonight -“I Believe’
My Take - I always get the vibe that she’s acting and not singing. Although this song showcased her vocal skills. The girl’s got some range.
Randy - “You took on another tiger this week. It was Okay. It’s Randy’s night for sparks!”
Paula - You flipped it a little bit and made it your own. It was your shinning nights.
Simon - “Technically you sang it very well. However, what it lacked for me was that big wave of emotion.?”
Jason Castro
Tonight’s song - “Somewhere over the Rainbow”
My Take - Jack Johnson you’re not - although pretty good - of the eight remaining he’s my least favorite - so perhaps I’m a little biased.
Randy - “Dude, Jason Castro is back in the house. That was blazen - molten hot.”
Paula - “You’ve got the definite sound - it was a perfect song.”
Simon - “Fantastic!’
Kristy Lee Cook
Tonight’s song - “Anyway”
My Take - Nice performance… a little too twangy for me, but still nice.
Randy - “There were a couple of little pitch moments
Paula - “You outdid yourself tonight - you did your best tonight.”
Simon - “I thought you were very, very good indeed. Tonight you looked like a star.”
David Cook
Tonight’s song - “Innocent”
My Take - What a wacky song choice - that was sooo uncomfortable.
Randy - “I’m not sure this was one of your strongest weeks.”
Paula - ‘You are it.!”
Simon - “I didn’t like this performance very much at all. It wasn’t anyway near the last two weeks.”
Carly Smithson
Tonight’s song - ” The Show Must Go On”
My Take - I don’t remember this song from back in the day… Not a crowd pleaser and not her best performance by any measure, but still nice.
Randy -“It ended up okay for me.”
Paula - “I didn’t fee the connection or engaged with you.”
Simon - “You look good… I thought it was an unusual choice of song tonight - came across as an angry performance and might be in a bit of trouble after tonight.”
David Archuleta
Tonight’s song - “Angels”
My Take - Is this the first time David’s been at the piano? He’s more enjoyable to listen to when he’s belting out the tune…. I didn’t care for the first part of the song… a little one note for me.
Randy - “That was your hottest moment the whole season…. loved it, loved it
Paula - “Fantastic”
Simon - “Best song choice of the night.”
Brooke White
Tonight’s song - “You’ve Got a Friend”
My Take - What a great song to close an inspirational show. Too bad her performance wasn’t that inspirational.
Randy - “It was just okay for me.”
Paula - “ot was a perfect way to close the evening.”
Simon - “It was nice. Was it original? no. Was it pleasant? yes.”
So after an hour of inspirational songs are you inspired? I was a little under whelmed by most of the performances tonight.
I thought the top performers were David Archuleta, Syesha Mercado and Jason Cook. And the performers most likely to go were Brooke White, Carly Smithson and David Cook. Thoughts? [an error occurred while processing this directive]

Looks like it’ll be Pricilla or Adam going home this week.
Overall a great night of dancing. I think I like the dances better without out the vocals…
Did you agree with the Judges? After tonight’s performances - who do you think will be going home?
TweetLatest update: The voters speak clearly
Your opinion came through loud and clear in our online poll: Ramiele Malubay should go home by a longshot with 46 percent of the total. You also wouldn’t be too surprised if Kristy Lee Cook or Jason Castro was sent packing. Will you be right? Read on.
First up to find out if he is safe is Michael Johns, which really was a no-brainer. Of course he is.
Next to make the walk is David Archuleta, who also finds out he’s made the top 8.
Carly Smithson comes to the stage as the third contestant, and Ryan makes her sweat it out before telling her she too is safe.
Brief interruption for the fan questions. (Are those awkward at times, or what?)
David Cook comes up next, and he has to explain his trip to the hospital after Tuesday’s show. He said it was no big deal, just a bout with high blood pressure. His blood pressure improves after Ryan tells him he is safe.
Ramiele is out next, and, as predicted, she is the first to be put into the bottom three.
Kristy Lee makes the walk to the stage and comes prepared with a note that says “Kristy’s Seat.” She felt she would be in the bottom three. She was right, and she joins Ramiele. One more to go before we find out who will leave us.
Syesha Mercado is called to the stage to find out her fate. She’s safe, which figures because they still have two people backstage.
Brooke White and Jason walk out together to see which one will join Ramiele and Kristy Lee. It’s Brooke who is in the bottom three, and that means America got it wrong. Jason deserved to be there more than Brooke.
Three women find themselves waiting to find out who goes home. Simon disagrees with me and says it’s the right bottom three.
(Side note: It’s possible to watch Idol and a Reds game at the same time. The Reds need to work on the fundamentals.)
Dolly Parton, the mentor Tuesday night, takes the stage next to show her students how it’s done. She delivers a high-energy performance that seemed odd for the AI audience, but she’s so likeable that it just doesn’t matter.
Now, back to the real reason we are all here: who gets to sing their swan song. Ramiele is still the one I think goes. Randy agrees with me, and Simon says Brooke should be safe. Simon is right, and Ryan sends Brooke into the final eight.
Without much drama — wow, wasn’t that unusually quick — Ryan tells Kristy Lee she is safe and that Ramiele is going home.
(Side note No. 2: Not much drama at the end of Idol, but the Reds win on a walk-off home run.)
Back on Idol, tears flow, and they put us through the terrible ritual of making the loser sing her way out, but the result certainly wasn’t a surprise to all of you who predicted it overwhelmingly.
So, let’s look forward instead of back and talk about who are the favorites now? What has changed for you, and what are you looking forward to?

TweetLatest update: We’re going to Dollywood
Dolly Parton, the little woman with the big singing voice, served as the celebrity mentor this week on American Idol.
Dolly said she would have a tough time judging or criticizing others, and from the footage Idol aired, that seemed to be the case. I never got the sense that she helped the final nine singers all that much.
She comes back Wednesday to perform.
Brooke White goes first and sings “Jolene.”
My take: Another solid, yet unspectacular, performance that should get her into the next round.
Randy: Some pitch problems at points, and she rushed the music. It was all right.
Paula: You have an emotional connection with each song you pick.
Simon: It wasn’t one of your best performances. I wasn’t crazy about it.
David Cook is up next and does his own take on “Little Sparrow,” which won praise from Dolly.
My take: He nailed the vocals, and I loved the arrangement, but I am not familiar with the original. It could be a hit today.
Randy: You’re showing unbelievable range. Once again another hot, consistent performance.
Paula: I’ve never heard a guy do that song. It was fantastic. It shows how well-rounded you are.
Simon: If you can make a song about sparrows good, which actually you did, congratulations.
Ramiele Malubay admitted being starstruck as she worked on “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?” (She was last week’s most likely to be kicked off, according to our online poll here.)
My take: Not a good performance. She had pitch problems, trouble with words and pacing. She looked like she knew she was in trouble.
Randy: Pretty good performance, 6.5 out of 10.
Paula: You really had a great minute and 30 seconds.
Simon: We’re not going to remember this in 10 years. Forgettable. Cruise ship performance.
Jason Castro tries “Travelin’ Through.”
My take: One of his better performances, but that’s not saying much coming from me. Not a big fan of his.
Randy: Thought it started rough, but by the middle of the song … you worked it out.
Paula: One of your strongest performances. It was great. I loved it.
Simon: I didn’t like it at all.
Carly Smithson hits one of Dolly’s best-known songs, “Here You Come Again.”
Dolly’s take: Now that’s the type of voice this is written for.
My take: I struggled to feel the connection with her for most of the song, but she nailed the big notes at the end.
Randy: I do believe that will probably be one of the better performances of the night.
Paula: That was glorious. You are beautiful.
Simon: Good, not great. You’ve got to look more like a star, and I am not seeing that progression now.
David Archuleta takes on “Smoky Mountain Memories.”
Dolly: I could feel that he was so into it. It’s all I could do to keep from crying.
My take: (Disclaimer: I’m not as big a fan of his as so many others are.) I thought after the build-up from Dolly, this would wow me. It didn’t. It was solid, but I wouldn’t want to listen to it again. Am I the only one who thinks David is overrated?
Randy: That was the best performance of the night.
Paula: You have an amazing tone in your voice. You have a beautiful aura.
Simon: Absolutely on the money.
Kristy Lee Cook picks one Dolly wrote about her own childhood, “Coat of Many Colors.”
My take: Kristy Lee needed to hit a home run with the country night, and she didn’t. It was fine, but not nearly the knockout she needed to stay in this thing too much longer.
Randy: Nice performance; this is in your wheelhouse.
Paula: You look stunning. I think this is your best performance.
Simon: I thought last week was your best performance. I thought this was pleasant but forgettable.
Syesha Mercado takes on a big one, “I Will Always Love You,” which Dolly and Whitney both made famous.
My take: This is a tall order, but I think she delivered on the vocals.
Randy: You took on the biggest tiger of the night, but I think you did pretty good.
Paula: You’re growing and growing, and I love it.
Simon: The first part was good, the second part paled by comparison to the Whitney version. It was a good, it wasn’t a fantastic, version of the song.
Michael Johns picks “It’s All Wrong, But It’s All Right.”
Dolly’s take: I could write some good records for him, so I hope he does become a star.
My take: Lose the scarf. Vocally, it was another top-shelf effort for Michael.
Randy: You keep on bringing it up a notch every week.
Paula: Great melodies, great hooks. You’re a star.
Simon: I think this is the best I have heard you sing so far.
After listening to the recap, I think this is the end of the line for Ramiele or Jason. If it wasn’t country week, Kristy Lee could be out, but the audience for Dolly will help keep her around once again.
So, who do you want to go home? Leave your comments here and take part in our unofficial poll to check the pulse of our readers. [an error occurred while processing this directive]
