‘American Idol’s’ girls better than guys tonight!

The guys stepped it up last night but I don’t think they are to the level of at least six of the girls.

Gina Glocksen dedicates her song to her boyfriend Joe. Oh know, a Heart song, Alone. Rarely has someone done a Heart song justice on this show. Carry Underwood is the rare exception. I love Gina but I thought she was a little pitchy and could have done better. I hope she stays longer.

Alaina Alexander dedicated her song to her mother. She sings a tough but popular Grammy winning Dixie Chicks song Not Ready to Make Nice. I like Alaina as a person but I don’t think she’s good enough to be an American Idol. I don’t think she’ll be in the Top 12. But I loved her dress. Beautiful color, beautiful cut…she a pretty girl who has to go home.

LaKisha Jones dedicates her song to her grandmother Ruth. Once again LaKisha chooses a perfect song in Leavin’ on that Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight. She seems so relaxed and everything is so effortless when she performs. Amazing. This girl could win the whole thing.

Melinda Doolittle dedicated her song to her two closest friends. My Funny Valentine is the song she chooses. She may have out sung LaKisha tonight. Melinda was right on pitch and had the perfect amount of her own style in there. Just wonderful! Remember when I just said that LaKisha was going to win the whole thing? I’m not quite sure now. AND have you ever heard Simon so glowing?

Antonella Barber dedicates her song to her brother. This is the gal that has fueled all the rumors this week because she was all nuddy on the internet. She sings Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion and she was just bad. She said she wasn’t nervous but clearly she was. Her voice was tight and she was having a hard time taking in a deep breath. When they told her their thoughts, she was arrogant and cocky. You know how Simon keeps talking about the talentless arrogant people on the show? I think he’s talking about her. What a little cocky witch! I want her gone. What a difference between her and the two gals that performed just before her.

Jordin Sparks dedicates her song to her younger brother. I’ll start this time with a comment on the amazing dress. Another great choice. Jordin struggled with pitchyness but I think it was nerves. I think with this Christina Aguilera’s song, Reflection, she struggled a little, but it was still a great song choice for her. The lyrics were just perfect. I like Jordin and I hope her bad notes don’t see her gone next week. The judges love this girl too. She beautiful, innocent, sweet and good, unlike the nasty girl before her!

Stephanie Edwards dedicated her song to her parents. It’s hard to believe that this girl didn’t want to go to the auditions. Good job to her parents for pushing her into it. She’s amazing! She sang Dangerously in Love by Beyonce. She too looked gorgeous. I wasn’t crazy about the song, but she can obviously sing. Not always, but most of the time I enjoy the performances so much more if I know the song and even though this is Beyonce, I didn’t recognize it.

Who would have thought Randy would be tougher on the gals tonight than Simon?

Leslie Hunt is dedicating her performance to her late Grandpa Bob. I wasn’t crazy about Leslie last week and I was hesitant this week when I heard Feeling Good come out of her mouth. Same song one of the guys sang last night. A Nina Simone and more recently Michael Buble did it sooooooooooooooo much better. She is too young and female and white to be trying to scat in my opinion. She was okay and she did look more comfortable this week.

Haley Scarnato dedicated her song to her finance. The pictures of the couple were just adorable. I didn’t expect Queen of the Night by Whitney Houston from her. It was a pleasant surprise. She dressed appropriately for the song, even though her dancing was a little clumsy at times. She was better than I expected but not necessarily a stand out compared to some. Ryan was very kind to notice that she was tearing up after Simon told her she’s probably one of four girls in trouble tonight. He didn’t put her on the spot or ask her questions. Ryan’s a good guy.

Sabrina Sloan dedicates her performance to her grandmother. Another very nice girl by the way. Sabrina also looked gorgeous dressed in black. She seemed to struggle a little with the higher octive of All the Man I need by Whitney Houston tonight but I really think she has a nice voice. What I worry about is that she’s not “special” enough in the end against some of the others. A little forgettable as Simon would say.

The guys were better last night that during week one but I still think the girls have it this year. Here’s my prediction of the Top girls; Gina, LaKisha, Melinda, Jordin, Stephanie, and Sabrina. The prize will be between LaKisha and Melinda.

And once again don’t forget our very own Online Idol contest. You have to vote for your favorite local performer!

I guess tomorrow night we find out who goes home and we can’t forget the visit by Kelly Pickler. I wanted her gone last year but I can’t wait to see her tomorrow. Go figure.

I agree with everything!! I mean I strongly disagreed with America’s choices last night. I think two out of the four should not of gone. Nick should of stayed and out of the last three girls Leslie should not of been the ones to go. The brat should of been the one to go, I was surprised that she even made it past the 2nd round. People can not stress enough that they have to vote if you want them to stay!! Instead of Nick it was Sangia’s turn to leave, I mean he’s a cute kid with fantastic hair but a note for Simon this is not Americas Next Top Idol, this is a singing show and that is what it should be based on!! OMG and what was with Simon giving out fashion tips this week? Like he should talk, he practically wears the same thing everyday. He should be the one to go on What Not To Wear. Oh and one last thing!! God Bless Sundance’s soul, he was crying and that just makes your heart turn into gel!!! I’m not a big Sundance fan but that man has a vivacios soul & u can’t help but to love him!! ~Courtney ~Does anyone know if Blake has a girlfriend?

I totally agree that Antonella sucks and needs to go home! I was shocked when she made it past Hollywood.

Cocky little witch? You nailed it Kelle! It burns me that Simon fawns over the gorgeous people even though they can’t sing. What a narcissist he is. I have to disagree with you though - the guys are going to be the ones to beat. Chris or Blake will be in the final two or might even BE the final two.

Antonella may be pretty, but I haven’t liked her voice since Hollywood week. I couldn’t believe she made it through! She needs to go. My top choice…Melinda Doolittle! She looks and sounds like a professional. And there is nothing better than someone who is good and modest! Go Melinda!

Another great night by the ladies. I thought that Alaina and and Antonella were just dreadful. How many times do these judges have to say not to choose songs that Celine, Mariah, and Whitney sing? Every year, the same thing happens. Some girl tries to sing the song and pales in comparison to the original. Unless you are Lakisha or Melinda, you have not business even attempting it. I agree with Kelle, the gals have it going on this year. It will be interesting to see what happens when the top twelve are formed, when the girls are competing against the guys. I can see it now, some talented girl gets voted off because people voted for a good-looking, not as talented guy. It has happened every year. We’ll just have to see!
