Designers jet down the runway… to Paris!
This week’s Project Runway (AUG 30) took the competition down a new runway… the one for airplanes as Tim and the designers jetted off for Paris. What a fun twist. While I do give the producers a fair amount of grief, well-deserved no less, they have managed to keep season three as much fun for the viewer as season one.
As the competition moved along, it seemed that Kayne had hooked up with the spirit of Elvis, whatever was he thinking? And Angela, that top looked like silk overalls that had been wadded up and washed a few times… ugh!
Vincent, underwhelming! - Michael, surprising! - Uli, I’m still out on her design. - Jeffery, He won… (I hate to admit it but it fit his persona as a jet setter). Laura - tailored.

I am really looking forward to their time in Paris; this should be a great twist for the show. According to Tim Gunn’s podcast, Parson’s has been in Paris since the 1920’s - with just a few years out during the war.
His podcast also revealed something else we have always known, the producers cut the final version to make it meet their ideal vision for the show rather than just what happened. He sighted a couple of examples. The first example was the flight to Paris. We see the designers sitting in first class with all the amenities. Well this wasn’t the plane they actually were flying. The filming took place in a Delta prototype jet that will role out later this fall.
The second example - The scenes with the judge in Paris offering feedback had to be shot six or seven takes as the judge was giving crazy critic to Angela and Kayne. “Angela you are making me sick with this, I don’t even know if I could continue to stand. Kayne, are you crazy?” I wish we could have seen those moments! Maybe in the DVD…
Till next week?
Should have Jeffery won?
