‘American Idol’ Queen song line-up for tonight

Update - It’s confirmed. USA Today published the song line-up for the show tonight.

Of course. I should have known the reason the American Idol finalists are singing songs of Queen this week is that Queen is in the midst of their first major U.S. tour together since 1982. With Paul Rodgers (legendary vocalist, songwriter and founding member of Free and Bad Company) taking over for the late, legendary Freddie Mercury, I’m sure they are looking to entice a new generation of fans. The demographics of the American Idol audience are all over the place so Queen can reintroduce themselves to older fans (like myself) and discover new ones (like my 13 year old niece).

Catch up on all things Queen at their website www.queenonline.com.

According to an email from VotefortheWorst.com this is the rumored line up for tonight. I have no idea how reliable this is or if it’s nothing but conjecture. It seems pretty out there. I guess we’ll find out.

Kellie -Bohemian Rhapsody

Ace - We Will Rock You

Bucky - Fat Bottomed Girls

Chris – Innuendo

Elliott - Somebody to Love

Katharine - Who Wants To Live Forever

Paris - The Show Must Go On

Taylor - Crazy Little Thing Called Love

I don’t expect to get blown away by eight amazing vocals tonight, based on the last couple of weeks, but I think it has the potential to have a couple WOW performances.

Durke - I think you’re a little harsh in your critique of Kelle. Knowing her personally, trust me - she has her own opinions - and we discuss them before the shows - and before she knows what the judges are going to say! And if they are similar to what the judges say -maybe that just means they’re right! (I do have to agree with you on Katharine - she should NOT be in the bottom three!)

Come on, most of your comments are exactly those of the judges. I think for the sake of your blog, you should bring your own material and develop your own opinions. And you can’t possibly be serious about Katharine being in the bottom three.

Hot, non-microwaved, popped in oil, buttered popcorn and a Coke! I really wish I had someone here tonight to watch the show and mock the contestants with. My hubby disappears as soon as he hears the Idol music start. My sister is on third shift tonight so no phone calls back and forth. I don’t remember being this excited even before the finale last year. QUEEN. Kellie P. singing Bohemian Rhapsody. Karen, I’ve never even seen a woman sing it before. I’ve got beverages on ice, my laptop charged up and the my surround sound kicked up on the TV.

Kim & Katie (and Kelle too), I’ll pop the popcorn. The party’s at my house. I agree that Kellie will be a train wreck. Can’t wait (snicker, snicker). I remember seeing Suzi McNeil do this song during RockStar Inxs and she was awesome, but then again, she also had talent and could sing. (did I say that?) Oh Pickler fans of the world forgive, but I guess I’m still miffed that Simon made the comment that he thought Kellie was better Carrie Underwood, and to me there is not comparision. Carrie is extremely talented (and took home a CMT award last night-WooHoo!) So to me, seeing Kellie struggle will just prove that Simon doesn’t know everything. WE DO!!!! LOL

Wow- this will be interesting. I’m disappointed in Katharine’s song choice; I thought she would do an awesome job with “You’re My Best Friend.” Taylor should be fun to watch tonight. I don’t see how Kellie can do justice to “Bohemian Rhapsody,” but maybe that’s a good thing; she needs to be knocked off her high horse just a bit. :)

The thing about “We Will Rock You” for a competition like this is that there just isn’t that much to it. I like it when done by Queen - but let’s face - it’s a very repetitive song. I can’t see Ace doing it either! I’m with you, Karen - pop the popcorn - I’ll be front and center cos I can’t wait for this one.

OMG, Kellie sings Bohemien Rapsody? Ace singing We Will Rock You? This should be truly interesting. As for the rest of them, I think their song choices are OK, but we’ll have to see. Katherine singing Who Wants to Live Forever should be awesome and Taylor singing Crazy Little Thing Called Love will be a true test of his talents. I just can’t see Ace rocking it. He’s a bit prissy to me. I’ve got a front row seat for this one!

I grew up listening to Queen, and I have almost every one of their albums on cassette. I am surprised that nobody had chosen “We are the Champions” or “Under Pressure”, since these are two of their biggest hits. I am intrigued to see how Chris does on “Innuendo”, as well as Katharine’s take on “Who Wants To Live Forever”. Paris should do okay on “Show Must Go On”, and Bucky might actually do alright on his choice. It will be interesting!

Oh my gosh - this should be SOOOO interesting - I can’t wait! And I didn’t know that Paul Rodgers was going to sing for Queen - a group which I have always loved by the way - that should be interesting too. It seems Paul has a much grittier voice than Freddie - it just can’t be the same. Anyway - Kellie doing Bohemian Rhapsody??? What a train wreck that could be - wonder how fast her eyebrows will be pumping on that one???
