‘American Idol’ fans wrong again. No, no, Mandisa don’t go!
No, no, please don’t go Mandisa. I cannot believe that one bad week and she’s gone. She’s gone before Bucky, Kellie, Paris and yes, even Ace. It’s just wrong. Bottom three were also wrong with Mandisa and Elliot. It should have been Bucky, Paris and Ace. That’s what we thought. Those three were at the bottom of the favorites list and at the top of the “outta here list.
Our polls did not predict this one right.
Favorites
Chris Daughtry 30%
Katharine McPhee 18%
Kellie Pickler 17%
Taylor Hicks 11%
Elliott Yamin 7%
Mandisa 5%
Ace Young 5%
Bucky Covington 4%
Paris Bennett 4%
Who we wanted gone
Bucky Covington 42%
Paris Bennett 13%
Ace Young 12%
Mandisa 11%
Taylor Hicks 7%
Elliott Yamin 5%
Kellie Pickler 5%
Katharine McPhee 4%
Chris Daughtry 1%
We still had over 1,500 votes on our poll this week. Very cool.
Next week the songs of Queen. I shudder to think of what the performances may be like based on the last couple of weeks. Who will shine? Chris, obviously. I predict right now that Bucky is gone after Queen.

i haven’t even checked out the blog this week til today, because i knew what it was going to say. i too, am shocked by the elimination of mandisa this week, but i have to admit her song choice was horrible. if she had sung something more suited to her personality and her style, she’d have been fine. again, it crosses my mind that someone is pulling some strings in the song choice dept, and giving these people horrible advice or underhanded suggestions. do the contestants truly choose the music, or do the producers? whichever it is, it’s too late for mandisa. i hate to see her go, i love her voice and she’s gorgeous, though, so she’ll be fine. maybe this week america will get it right and get rid of bucky. i don’t mean to bash him, but vocally he’s the worst-sounding. time to get serious, folks. i say chris all the way!!!!!

Katie, you said it better than I did. I also personally respect Mandisa for her religious beliefs, but I agree Idol is an inappropriate forum to preach.

I was surprised, no doubt. It was definitely too soon for her to go. I wasn’t at all surprised at Paris and Elliot - Elliot just has no spark to him - no “it”. I think that Mandisa will be fine - I’m not worried about her. And I really didn’t think she was going to be a top three or four at this point, so it’s okay. The only spot that counts for “real” is the top one, and I don’t think she was going to be there - but she has gotten her exposure, she will be on the tour and I think she will still have a career in music. I love Queen too - this should really be interesting!!! My favorite is “You’re My Best Friend” - and “Fat Bottom Girls” - bring on the Queen!!!

Mandisa has great vocal talent, that is indisputable. I personally respect the fact that Mandisa is so firmly planted in her religous beliefs; however, I believe she inappropriately used the American Idol stage to shout out her own beliefs too strongly. Just my opinion, of course. She mentions God, Jesus, the Bible, etc, in her Bio several times; she’s mentioned it in her interview with Jaded (on the official AI site); and she mentions it whenever possible during interviews. At some point, she became overly preachy, in my view. Mandisa’s most recent interview remarks came across as judgemental and self-righteous to me, and I lost the will to vote for her.

This was a sad day with the loss of Mandisa. I was early fan and thought she was one of the best female vocal talents on the show. But it all boils down to song choice and public “likeability”. She stayed true to her roots (Gospel singer) but I can’t help but wonder if her song choice a week ago, coupled with her Gospel crusade style entrance and commentary, didn’t turn off and alienate a segment of the public. Does anybody else think she tried to mix too much religion into her performance? Next week should prove interesting and a real challenge for Kellie, Ace and Bucky.

Ok, I’m in shock over Mandisa leaving, but I can’t truly believe is that Bucky has fans. You can’t understand a word that young man sings. He’s dreadful. I like Bucky as a person, but as a top notch singers, he’s way out of his league. Watch Nashville Star and that alone will prove it. He can’t hold a candle to any of those contestants. I always hate country week, even though I’m a Keith Urban fan and like some country music. Mandisa being gone is just plain wrong. Elliott in the bottom three-NO Way, the boy can sing. It should have been Ace, Paris and Bucky, with Bucky or Ace departing, but that’s just my opinion. Can’t wait to see who butchers Queen next week. Who comes up with these themes anyway. It’s like they try to pick areas of music that people will have a hard time with rather than focusing on perfecting the areas that they each excel in. That would be like asking Mick Jagger to sing Perry Como, or Tim McGraw to sing Nine Inch Nails. It just doesn’t happen, and I think it horrible that they make these young talents jump through their sadistic hoops!

Amy, I’m a big Queen fan too. Ace has a great falsetto - it would be great to see him try “Bohemian Raphsody, wouldn’t it?

That was a shock. But since I really don’t care (ha ha), on to next week. Kelle, leave Bucky alone. He can survive if he picks the right song like “You’re My Best Friend” or something similar. It would be cool if Chris sang “I Want to Break Free”. I love Queen. I can’t wait to see how Kellie ruins one of their greatest hits. Ace, Elliot, and Taylor should be able to excel with the right songs. I see the girls struggling.

My 10 year old and I couldn’t believe it. Mandisa is beautiful, she has an amazing voice and I’m sad that she won’t be on the show any longer. I heard on the radio that Prince, yes the purple ONE, will be a guest in the weeks to come. I can’t imagine the Idols singing Prince songs. Taylor - Let’s Go Crazy? Kellie - Little Red Corvette? Bucky - Razzberry Beret? Do the math, it’s so funny. Ok I changed my mind - I WANT to see them perform Prince. That will separate the singers from the wannabe’s.

I could not believe fans of American Idol. The best was sent home last night! All I can say is that America can’t deal with excellent talent!!!
