Mason’s Kahl to run at Kent State
Mason High senior Matt Kahl will continue his running career at Kent State University, he said tonight, March 29.
Kahl, who will run cross country and track, will join the program as a recruited walk-on. He also considered Butler, Ashland, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan and Northern Kentucky.
Kahl appeared at the state cross country meet three times, helping the Comets capture the team state title in 2008. He is seeking his first state berth in track.

Middletown baseball, softball games rescheduled
Opening day for baseball and softball at Middletown High School has been postponed.
The Middie baseball team will now host Oak Hills at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 2. The start time is for both varsity and junior varsity.
The softball team will now play at Colerain on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Northwest game originally set for Tuesday will be moved to a later date.

Lakota West at Fairfield softball postponed
Opening day will be pushed back one day for the Lakota West and Fairfield softball teams.
The Firebirds will travel to Fairfield on Tuesday, March 30, in a game that was originally scheduled to be played today but postponed due to the weather.
First pitch will be at 4:30 p.m.

Badin baseball, softball postponed
Today’s Talawanda at Badin baseball game and Mercy at Badin softball game have been postponed because of the weather.
The softball game will be made up Tuesday at 4:30.
The baseball game will be made up April 6 at 4:30.

Mason’s Miller to play at Ohio Northern
Mason High senior pitcher/shortstop Christin Miller will play collegiately at Ohio Northern University, Mason coach Brian Castner said.
Miller, a first-team, all-GMC pick a year ago, hit .459 with 12 RBIs, while going 11-6 with a 1.42 ERA and 150 strikeouts in the circle.

MCS accepting applications for boys basketball job
Middletown Christian is taking applications until April 9 for the position of head boys basketball coach.
Interested applicants can stop in at the school’s athletic department to obtain an application, or fill one out at middletownchristian.com.
Ed Davis recently resigned after one season at MCS.

Lakota West’s Ward commits to Xavier
Lakota West High junior golf sensation Korey Ward has verbally committed to Xavier University, West coach Chris Conway confirmed this morning, March 29.
Ward also considered Ohio State, Kent State and Wisconsin, Conway said.
Ward has won the last two Division I state championships — the first individual in D-I to win back-to-back state titles since Turpin’s Andy Sanders did it in 1994 and ‘95.
