Ironton is making its third appearance in the Final Four.

They lost to West Lafayette Ridgewood in the Class AA semifinal in 1980. And they lost to South Euclid Regina in the 2005 D-III regional semi.

The Tigers are from Lawrence County, at the very southern tip of Ohio.

To reach the state tourney, Ironton knocked off No. 3-ranked Oak Hill in the regional championship game.

Ironton was never ranked in any of the Associated Press state polls this season.
