Fenwick looking for girls tennis coach

Fenwick High School is now accepting applications for the position of girls tennis coach.

The position is open because Mary Joseph has decided to step down after 14 years of coaching. Joseph, an FHS alumnus, also coached boy’s tennis and girl’s basketball at different times in her tenure. She plans to stay active at Fenwick and hasn’t ruled out a return in the future.

Anyone interested in applying for the coaching position should contact Athletic Director Jerry Kombrinck (513) 423-0724.

As a result, Eastham was named the Greater Miami Conference Player of the Year and a Division I first-team, all-Ohio selection.

Mason coach Paul Reedy said Eastham is attracting college attention ranging from Division I to Division III schools.

“He is trying to find the right fit and I am confident he will be able to do that,” Reedy said.

Eastham and senior teammates Corey Campbell and Tyler Galley will play in the senior all-city game at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, at Princeton High School.

Nearly two weeks into official preseason practice, Austing has 17 players — made up of sophomores, juniors and seniors — each day for varsity practice.

Six of them are seniors: Justin McCray, Arryn Chenault, Phil Harris, Justin Baker, Josh Scott and newcomer Willis Fleming.

A year ago, Harris averaged 20.3 points per game before missing the second half of the season due to academic reasons.

“The players worked hard in the weight room and in the gym during the offseason,” Austing said. “There are a lot of new faces on the team. We are working hard to improve and implement a new system. The kids are working hard and are excited to get started but there is still a lot of work to be done.”

The Indians — who were 5-16, 1-13 GMC last year — host Roger Bacon and Loveland in a scrimmage this weekend.
