Recap of Lakota West’s Hicks conference call

Lakota West senior OLB Jordan Hicks held his weekly media conference call this morning, Nov. 9, and here are the highlights.

—Hicks said he will likely take official visits to USC and Alabama. He’s already taken official visits to Ohio State and Texas, and has one set up for Florida in December.

—Hicks, also an all-GMC basketball player, said he will attend basketball practice beginning on Thursday. He will meet with basketball coach Sean Van Winkle on Wednesday to discuss juggling the hoops season and football recruiting trips.

“As of right now, I’m on the team,” said Hicks, who is still undecided on whether to graduate early.

—Hicks has been invited to play for Team USA in the “Team USA vs. The World” game on Jan. 30, 2010, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Well, at least he will have plenty of time on his hands for these little PR stunts since West lost Friday night - hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Maybe the J-N will actually report some REAL news for a change instead of sucking up to Jordan.

If this guy was smart he would got to UC. They are playing very well. He would become a hero in Cincinnati and be set the rest of his life for jobs. All of these other colleges will forget about him in no time because of all of the other stars who attend now and in the past. But everyone (players, parents, fans and announcers)wants to play for the big name schools.

How is pointing out the ridiculousness of a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT having a WEEKLY PRESS CONFERENCE showing ignorance? It will be a miracle if this young man doesn’t end up like TO and believing all the hype about himself. Of course since he is from West (We’re better than YOU) Chester that process started long ago I’m sure.

He will have to pay his dues like everyone else.

It sounds like HAHAHA is a little jealous of Hicks because HAHAHA was no good in high school and HAHAHA did not get the attention Hicks is getting.

I am not jealous. I realize that Jordan is a talented athlete deserving of some attention. But to have a weekly press conference? REALLY? The coverage is a little confusing considering this is allegedly the “Hamilton” J-N. I have a hard time believing that if Jordan played for Hamilton that he would be receiving the same level of attention. Apparently the powers that be at the J-N enjoy sucking up to the West (Our crap doesn’t stink) Chester-ites. I actually place a good deal of blame on Jordan’s coach. Maybe he is hoping that by showcasing Jordan’s talent he might elevate his own career. That’s pretty sad.
