Pistol offense ‘explosive’ for Anderson
Running the pistol offense, Anderson High’s football team has scored at least 41 points in every game but one.
The Redskins boast a 1,000-yard rushing QB in Brandon Bornhauser and 1,000-yard RB in Kyle Slater, who have combined for 2,380 yards and 43 TDs.
“Offensively, they’re as explosive as they come,” West coach Larry Cox said. “They run so many formations, and really when you begin to break it down, that’s what makes it so difficult.”
Overall, Anderson has rushed for 3,655 yards and 59 TDs.
“Slater is a tremendous back,” Anderson coach Jeff Giesting said. “Our quarterback has helped this year. He’s very mobile. For the first time, we really have that dual threat at tailback and quarterback. It’s made a huge difference. Our offensive line has really come along. They’ve really gelled and done a great job.”
Giesting, though, admitted his offense hasn’t had to game plan around a talent like West senior OLB Jordan Hicks.
“We haven’t faced anyone with the size they have and nobody with a player like Hicks,” he said. “It’s certainly a challenge for us for sure.”
