Mason’s Wills attracting big-time college interest

Mason High’s Zach Wills will only be a junior, but he has certainly received plenty of interest from Division I colleges.

Mason boys track coach Chip Dobson said Wills has received letters from schools such as Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, Washington, Arizona, Harvard, Yale and Cornell.

Dobson also said Wills — who would run track and cross country at the next level — is really interested in the “big hitters,” like Oregon and Stanford.

“Whether or not it’s in the cards is yet to be seen,” Dobson said. “He’s getting to the level where those would be in the cards. I think Oregon would be his first choice.”

Wills placed ninth in the 3,000-meter race at the 6th IAAF World Youth Championships in Sudtirol, Italy, on Sunday, July 12.
