Mason grad Bizzarri looks to qualify for World Championships
Mason High graduate and University of Illinois standout Angela Bizzarri will race in the 5,000-meter event at the Liege in Belgium on Wednesday, July 15.
The Liege serves as an opportunity for athletes to meet the standards for the upcoming World Championships, which are in Berlin, Germany, beginning Aug. 15.
The 5,000 race starts at 8:40 p.m. Belgium time. They are six hours ahead of us here.
Bizzarri, a seven-time All-American and a national champion, needs to run a 15:25 to qualify for the World Championships. She set herself up for this opportunity after finishing third and running a personal-best 15:33.02 at the USA Track and Field Championships in June.
